Hi i have a mini cooper (bmw) and it has 15" Alloy wheels as standard
what sizes of wheels can this car take
example can i fit cooper s 17" wheels and tyers to the cooper, and if so do i have to do any work to the car?
might seem a bit stupit question to some, but i was wondering as not really happy with the ones i got

the only time you should fit anything like steering limiters is 18" plus, apart from that, your ok:p

You can get 19" as KJ has done, not sure of the comfort though :p

i saw a car on holiday in Cornwall on 20's :eek: have the pics to prove it... the guy says they don't rub and he did no mods other than the steering limiter thingys:approve::approve:

My car was ok on 18's, very slight wheel rub but only cause i had the car lowered 30mm :I fitted coil overs after that and all was ok :)

You will find a list of suitable tyres here
http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?faq=faq_wheels_tyres#faq_faq_choosing_whee ls
that will ensure speedometer changes are negligible.
Do remember that changing the wheels & tyres will change how the car handles.
I tried 16 inch wheels on my last Cooper and didn't like the handling so ended up going back to 15" wheels (a costly experiment :clown::I)
What is it you're not happy about with your current wheels?

R85 S-spoke (aka LeMans, S-lite)type wheels on,would i have to do anything to the car to fit these?

19inches with no rub or mods to the steering. Only time i have problems with rubbing is when i wear a thong.

it depends on the wheel. Wheels alone have the potential to change the way a cars appearance is percieved.

Will fit no problem as LnL says.
Good idea sticking with BMW Mini wheels as they fit properly.
No Mini is fitted with 17 inch wheels as standard (One 15 steel, Cooper 15 alloy & Cooper S 16 alloy) but lots of people take them as an option so there are loads around so you should be able to pick up a good set with tyres fairly easy.
My aftermarket 16 inch wheels were a pain to fit - locator ring wrong, stuck out too much & rubbed on the arches on bumpy roads (and they were bought from a so called Mini specialist! :dead:)
Enjoy your new wheels when you get them :p
