New Mini Release Date

Well as far as I am aware there is no official release date yet.....well if there is this topics pointless!:blackeye:

But i have some gossip from the Top Gear Magazine.....

The new Pug 207 1.6 come out by September. This of course is the same engine thats inside the new MINIS, as it is a joint development between Peugeot, Citroen and BMW.

Also, the new GTi has the same engine has the new Cooper S, which is the same unit as the one and cooper will have but turbocharged and will have 172bhp (perhaps BMW will tune it a little higher). The Gti is being released in March.

Anyway the relevance of the this to the release date....

BMW were only willing to devlop this engine of it could be released by them first. So in otherwords we can probably expect the new MINI around september and the Cooper S before March next year!

Pitty were not too sure on what it looks like just yet!

From what the guy at JC's said to me when I was waiting for a button to be replaced, the bonnet loses the bulge in the middle, and the headlights are no longer going to be mounted in the bonnet either, they'll be fixed to the chassis.

He mentioned the launch, think it was September/October he said.

losing the bulge? not as if mini needs a diet or anything is it?!

wonder how long it'll take someone to nick a turbo from a scooby or evo and mod it to the new engine ;)
