Well, there seems to be quite a knowledge of Mac's out there, so where better to ask!
I'm not a fan of Mac's (where's the damn right mouse button!), but i want to know more about them, as my art student cousin is often asking about software problems with her old Power Macintosh One/225.
Firstly, She is wanting to upgrade from OS 9.1 to OS 10.1, but will her computer manage to handle the upgraded version?
Also is there a book or website that anyone can recomend for learning about them.
Ideally, i would like an old Mac to play with, and E-bay has a quite a few older machines. Is there a decent one that anyone can recomend just to use to learn about them?
Cheers

As far as i know Apple say the the minimum spec machine that will cope with osx
is a 233mhz G3 imac, however i know people that have put osx on older g3 power macs, but not without some hassle.
They can be funny about firmware updates etc
As for a mac to mess around and learn on. Im using a G3 imac (original shape) running osx (panther) and it still does me fine..... you should be able to pick up reconditioned ones pretty cheap these days.
try some of these sites for info on all things mac

I don't think that machine would be capable of running OS X, unfortunately.
I think that the oldest machines that it will run on acceptably are the revision C iMacs. MMM and Brian both have OSX 10.3 running on "ageing" iMacs and they don't have any problems. I would recommend trying 10.1 - better off with 10.2 or preferably 10.3 as it seems to run faster.
A revision B (233Mhz) might run it at a push but it would be clunky!
If you are wanting an "old" Mac to play on I wouldn't go any older than that.
As Calum said though David's yer man! He'll sort you out!
Here's a link (http://www.macs2u.co.uk/) to his website.
