been thinking about buying a set of 18" alloys for my mini;)

just wondered if anyone had pics of the ride height you end up with when putting on the bigger wheels, as i dont want to find out the hard way , pay for wheels then have to pay out on new suspenion cause i have a bigfoot!

Pics???

The diameter for the 18"s should be the same as for 17"s you are just using lower profile tyres. 205/35 instead of 205/45s.

Certainly avoid tyres any wider than 215

As bufty said, the diameter should not change due to the difference in tyre profile. In theory, thats true, but in practice its not quite so true. Different tyres have different depths. The likes of the Toyo T1S 215/35 is a much more shallow tyre than the Nankang 215/35. Howeever the Yoyo is a far more expensive tyre.

with 18s the clearance should be ok, but your will notice the handling suffers and the car will be a little less nimble... depending which tyre wheel combo you go for.

If your interested, I have a set of Toora 18s which need to go. They started off life on Nenahs BBR Cooper S and then they lived on my car for a while.

They don't have tyres though. Well, they do, but the tyres which are on at the moment are a bit on the wide side. You could pick up a set of new Nankang tyres for about £200. Or federals.

Here are some pics of the Dare wheels on a non lowered car - as I have absolutely no idea what wheels you might be thinking of getting Im not sure this will help ;)

Theres something about 18s. I just think they look far better on a lowered car. Not just the dare wheels, I mean any 18" wheel.

got to be honest, those pics of the Dare alloys on standard suspension look too high... i could fit me head in that gap:I(excuse the pun!, no jokes!!!!)

Looking at it i would def need to lower my cooper before i got those 18" i think...mmmmm lots to think about:disapprove:

Kev, I would seriously take onboard what Sleepy is saying about handling though!!!

Check what the experts say about wheel size
