Well, here we have a Mini Cooper S belonging to Robin on the forum. The car was in good shape, a lot better shape than some that i have had recently:).

Here are the before pics.

Firstly the car was coated in meguiars detailer car wash soap from a foam gun and blasted clean. It was then refoamed and washed with a lambswool wash mit. Once clean I set about refoaming the car and claying the paint.

The S was quite clean at the front but a lot of crap was stuck to the back for some reason:evil: but this was taken off by the clay (Sonus fine detailing clay)

The car was then rewashed and the wheels were coated in meguiars wheel brightener and blasted clean with the pressure washer. The arches and tyres were coated in Meguiars Super Degreaser. The paint was quite bland. It had been coated in supa guard or diamondbrite or something else and you could see it has worn off through time. The water was just lingering instead of beading off the paint as shown below.

The paint was then tackled with meguiars #80 speed glaze to remove some light swirling and add a bit of gloss to the paint. The x shape is the glaze placed onto the pad and dabbed onto the paintwork

Here is the paint after glazing.

The paint was then polished with Blackfire extra gloss polish and sealed with Klasse Extra gloss sealent. It was then waxed with megs mirror glaze #16.

The engine bay was cleaned with meguiars #2 for cleaning the paint, and Autoglym bumper and trim shine for the plastic work.

The exhaust was cleaned with 3M stainless steel cleaner/ polish and P21s metal polish soap, as was the skid pan under the exhaust shown below.

My car needs this badly!! The rear end of the car end rear quarters are all bumpy. Its just tiny bits of tar which get chucked all the time. Really annoying!

Anyone know where I can get some Megs wheel brightener?

Allan
8th June 2006, 12:19 AM
try
www.cleanandshiney.co.uk (Quote detailingworld for 10% discount)
or
www.seriousperformance.co.uk (free postage + 10% discount paying by cheque)

You will need to buy a bottle to put the wheel brightner in (you can get these from the meguiars site). It is basically a 5l bottle that you add to the wee bottle and top up with water. I think it is around 15 pounds but depending on dillution ratio's it lasts a long time. Ive had mine over a year and it still aint finished.

Right. Here is a black one now :D. My Boss is selling his MINI, so I had to detail it today. It has been sitting for a while not being used and it had all sorts stuck to it.

Firstly the car was washed and clayed (Sonus green clay is crap for summer, it went all gooey btw) Then the car was treated with meguiars #80 speed glaze. The car was then treated with meguiars #7 show car glaze (to bring a bit of deeper shine) then treated with blackfire extra gloss polish. This was then sealed with Klasse extra gloss glaze, then #16 mirror shine wax.

The windows were polished and the exterior trim treated with autoglym. The engine bay was degreased and treated.

The interior was hoovered and the carpets extracted, the plastics were polished and leather treated.

Heres the befores

Great work allan - I gave my black cooper the treatment last weekend too - washed, clayed with sonus (no probs with mine), then scratch x'd where necessary followed by sonus cleanser, meguairs nxt tech wax and then topped with #16 mirror glaze - all by hand too

Gotta love the deep gloss shine #16 leaves!!

However - any chance of knocking down the res on your camera a bit to make them fit on the screen?8)

Allan
13th June 2006, 07:34 PM
lol, its photobucket Wul, the first pics are automatically resized but photobucket is lazy and doesnt do it for you :p

Yeah #16 is great I got it when i done the detailing shoot for Fast and Modified last year... and its still going strong! I got #26 also which is good, it doesnt have the same finish but it has better beading than #16 so i dunno which one to use.

lmao, right Ive got 2 mail boxes and i keep checking one and not the other . Emailed you back Sweeney and ill give you a fone tonight Angus

I got my Megs wheels brightener Allan. Magic stuff! Best wheel product I've ever used. My wheels were looking fantastic when that lassie pulled out on me and smashed up the front of my car! Maybe she couldn't see me because she was blinded?
