I saw somewhere that Samsonite were doing a range of "Mini Travel Gear" - i.e luggage designed to fit into the new Mini boot perfectly.

I can't find any references to UK suppliers online - has anyone seen this range or know where I can get my grubby mitts on some?!!

Thanks in advance
Moorf

Miniusa.com do loads more goodies, especially ones not for your MINI. I seem to remember that the luggage set was 500USD, expensive, but cool.

I e-mailed them about other stuff, but they don't deliver outside North America.

There is a MINI Trolley bag P/N 80 16 0 146 142 that costs 179Euro on the MINI shop website

Go to www.mini.com and click on international site, and then MINI shop.

Thanks for the info satelite... the trolley bag is quite groovy - little did I think that when we got this car we'd have to change all our luggage - what a shame, I shall have to shop.... :D:D:D

I had a call from Grassicks (dealer) in Perth today - they were really spooked because we called them earlier this week to enquire about the Samsonite luggage and they knew nothing about it - and then this morning a sample set arrived direct from Germany!!

We're off to take a look at the weekend - I'll post a review!!

This is Moorf, reporting for New Mini Scotland, from somewhere in Perthshire....

SSsshhhh!! Moorf. Don't let Linda hear
Hmmmm... It's okay, I don't think she's noticed :)

Daisy gets more than enough attention without getting her own luggage:eek:

I have seen this a while ago on Mini2, it costs a fortune! apparently its just the same as the other Samsonite stuff only has the Mini logo on it, someone in the states a while ago made a post about the luggage which actually fits the mini boot perfectly... i'll try and dig it out

I'm pretty sure thats the same pic used to illustrate the Samsonite "Mini Travelgear" range!

I'll see if I can get some literature on it tomorrow when I'm at dealers and scan in some pics.

Expensive ... yes, I think it retails c. $500 in States so to us in the UK.... prob £400

Well, we took a look at the luggage and took a pic (plus scanned in the literature we were given). I wasn't too far off with the price - retails at £395 here in UK for all three items (however, the dealer said he'd cut us a deal :D)!

Whilst the brochure says it will fit (if not overfilled) in a boot with a CD changer we couldn't get it in with EMPTY luggage :disapprove: - we took the pic in the link below after having put the luggage in a boot with no CD changer unit!!

The luggage itself was very nice, well made with lots of space and well designed. I'm tempted but I'd like to see the price down to around £200 mark - I think it's overpriced at £395.

Take a look for yourself:

It looks to me that in the official pictures the parcel-shelf has been taken out to get the luggage to fit.

If you look at the pic we took you'll see that we left the parcel shelf in place... the luggage fitted under it perfectly and we were able to shut the door, with the parcel shelf in place, with no probs.

If you stuffed all 3 bags to bursting point this "may" prove to be a prob but then you could just remove the shelf.
