Gonna go driving in Scotland :)
Spending the first 2 nights in Edinburgh
Not sure where to go next - thinking a night in Dundee at the Apex?
Then into the highlands
Any recommendations?
Thanks

You've got to do the west coast if it's driving your after. Glencoe, Applecross, Ullapool and beyond all fantastic :D

I would say

Edinburgh - Stirling - Loch Lomand - Trossachs - Glasgow - Pitlochry - skye - South Uist - North Uist - Highlands - Aberdeen - Dundee - St Andrews - North Berwick - Berwick Upon Tweed - Peebles - Kelso - Dumfries - Newton Stewart

I would defo miss out the west coast Tarbert CampbellTown area one road in and one road out horrible area. IMO.

Is there gonna be a Cullen Run this year ? If so then time your trip for that one & you'll get to see the Highlands in a 1er :approve:

Nah, Cullen only goes through the Cairngorms. I wonder if there will be a Cullen this year

Mikey - After Edinburgh, head west to Loch Lomond via Stirling, then on to Crianlarich, Glencoe, Fort William, from here you can head up to Inverness and then across to Aberdeen etc, back down through the Cairngorms etc!!

Thanks for the posts, I did plan to go right up to the north west tip
BUT the missus said no - she is heavily pregnant so doesn't want to stay in the car for too long :(
So she has picked the hotels
Staying in Edinburgh, DUndee & Glasgow
I will be going to Loch Lomond though :) & plan on a distillery stop ;)

Good Choice! ;):D
What hotel are you staying at in Dundee?
If you need any recommendations on places to go, stay eat, drink, good roads ;) there's a few of us up here who can give you some ideas..

I'm sure we could even organise a wee get together with you if you fancy, but don't worry if you want a quiet time! :D:D

You could do worse than to take a drive up to Braemar/ Glenshee (Coupar Angus-Blairgowrie-Glenshee-Braemar) , or up to Pitlochry (Perth then up the A9), or if you're feeling adventurous, I'd head up to Fort William (Perth-Crieff-Lochearnhead-Crialarich-Fort William) - which means you'd go up through Glencoe and that area, possibly some of the best scenery around (within range of Dundee anyway!)
You could possibly got he other direction and head to St Andrews (if you're a fan of golf in any way) - Nice Cathedral ruins and castle to visit too if that's your thing.
(check em out with Google maps if you can, it's pretty good)

I've heard good things about the Rama Thai restaurant (http://www.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&q=thai+restaurant&near=Dundee&radius=0.0&cid=56461428,-2968111,11300745518051704004&li=lmd&z=14&t=m) which is just across the road from the Apex. If you fancied maybe something more Indian, you HAVE to go to the Gulistan House (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=gulistan+dundee&cid=56461428,-2968111,17656951969862808307&li=lmd&ll=56.464008,-2.90966&spn=0.069325,0.161018&om=1).
Directions Here (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?daddr=Queen+St+Hall+Queen+St,+Dundee,+DD5+2HN +(Gulistan+House)+%4056.468426,-2.874483&saddr=DD1+3JP&f=li&hl=en&dq=gulistan+dundee&cid=56461428,-2968111,17656951969862808307&ll=56.464577,-2.91996&spn=0.069324,0.161018&om=1)

If you do decide on the Gulistan there's several :D:D pubs within a 5 minute walk from the door :D, The first of those is the Post Office Bar - straight across the traffic lights. If you head over the bridge towards the water, and keep heading down that road, there's the Fisherman's Tavern - good wee local pub, lots of Ales and whiskies to choose from (and nice friendly staff).
These are actually in Broughty Ferry - about 5 miles out (but where I've lived for 20-odd years :D

Pubs in Dundee itself..well there's hunners! :D The Contemporary Arts Centre (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=dundee+contemporary+arts+centre&ll=56.45878,-2.969398&spn=0.008667,0.020127&om=1) has a nice bar which does food. Across the road and up Tay St from there is The Social (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=the+social+dundee&om=1)...
In Fact, Here's (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=pubs+dundee&start=0&om=1) a link to most of the pubs in the Town Centre, there's about 6 pages worth :D:eek: I can tell you te best ones to avoid! (The Bush, the Central, Charlie's, The Arctic, Pillars, Star and Garter- I think that's the worst ones full of drunk old buggers stinking of wee :D)

MacDaniels does good food,as does The Globe and both are fairly close to the hotel..

Hope that helps some.. Didn't realise you wer up so soon, I've been summoned to the Parents for dinner on Tuesday, which is a right pain! :D:D:eek::blackeye:;)
