The NMS FESTIVE RUN... HO HO HO

Due to popular public demand ;) there WILL be a Festive Run on Sunday 28th Dec.

We realise there will be a few folk who can't make Alan & Big Gordy's trip on the Monday so have decided to put on a Sunday Run as originally planned. Drat, and here was us thinking we'd got out of organising another run ;):clown:

Full details will be posted in due course but rough outline is as follows:

11.00am start (for the party animals) - from Stirling Services, following a route along Carron Valley reservoir, through Fintry, Killearn, Drymen, pit-stop at Balmaha, Aberfoyle, lunch stop at Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, a wee stop at Loch Katrine, Brig O'Turk, along Loch Venacher, out to Doune (lovely place), Dunblane and finishing off back where we started at glorious Stirling Services.

For the lunch stop at Queen Elizabeth Forest Park you can either grab a bite to eat at the visitor centre's cafeteria (they've been warned of our arrival) or alternatively, weather permitting, bring your own packed lunch and enjoy a wander round the park.

Please note:
The Car Park at Queen Elizabeth Forest Park is a pay & display. It would therefore be handy if all drivers came armed with a pound coin ;)

As numbers are limited we are only running a thread on NMS this time.

As like last year, MINI's must be festively dressed :clown: Best one gets a PRIZE :cool: Oh, and anyone who doesn't make an effort will be ritually humiliated :approve::clown:

OK folks, that's Willie and I just in from a day doing the first recce and it's looking 'very' good :cool: As usual we've managed to combine fab MINI driving roads :D :D with super scenery thrown in :cool: Another super duper MINI adventure :D:cool::D

At the moment it's looking like the finish will be in Bridge Of Allan at The Royal Hotel (really nice) about 3pm. The lady from the hotel is going to get back to me with a menu and prices. Their car park is pretty big but she will get a section coned off anyway.

At the moment we can manage to add a 'few' more names to the list so be quick !!

I would also 'appreciate' it if folk could replace the maybe's and possibly's by the first week in December as I will NEED to confirm with the Hotel at that point.

OK folks, we were out doing another recce last Sunday and we have a bit of a change.

We were trying to get a lunch arranged in a Hotel like we normally do 'BUT' we went round quite a few places and this year we've been struggling for the date and also prices, most places are after about £13 a head for 2 courses which we feel would be pushing it a bit as we like to try and accomodate 'all' pockets.

So as a result, we had a chat with the manager at The Queen Elizabeth Forest Park where we will be passing by at about 1pm.

We have arranged with them for their cafe to accomodate us, it's a lovely situation with plenty parking. It's just your usual tourist cafe place, they will have soup, sandwiches, baked tatties, cakes etc.

So there will be no set menu it will just be a case of queing and getting what you want. If anyone wants to bring a picnic (weather permitting) please feel free as there are plenty of picnic tables.

Route's looking pretty good though, great MINI roads as usual :cool:

Ok, i will be attending this run :p meet up at the KFC for the usual convoy, add your names

I had to swim 180 miles un-detected underwater, climb aboard the rig, dive down to around 12000 ft subsea in a 8-1/4" hole and sprinkle some shale and very fine sand near to the reservoir. This made sure that the well continually collapsed and made drilling ahead impossible, so much so they have to perform a sidetrack which will take an extra 6 days :cool:

Don't worry about the bumpy road Julz, BabyB'll be okay :D It would be adviseable (to all) to slow down a little at these points though. There aren't any big potholes (that I've noticed 8)?) but the surface is a little broken and rough.

Been busy here washing and cleaning up the MINI and treated her to a new set of front wiper blades as well. Why does it always take me half an hour to find out what plastic part goes what way on replacement blade kits - I'm frozen:mad::clown:

Hello Brian, the incident was on the Duke's Pass - A821 north of Aberfoyle, the road was not salted (indeed a sign warned of this) and a few bends were totally icy. Anyway Kirsty was going slowly round a right hander when a guy in an Astra coming the other way slowly slid across the road and into her Yellow One. :( Nobody hurt and damage to Kirsty's car was to the driver's door and the panel in front of it including the washer bottle which must have split. The Astra came off worse we think. Kirsty was able to continue the run to completion which was very brave indeed.:cool:

Also I think we saw some of the safest driving yet on a MINI run, given the icy conditions on part of the run, so thank you for that too. This also gave everyone a chance to see some of the most beautiful Scottish scenenry.

Kirsty, we were devastated about your little incident but it was great to see how calm and dignified about it all you were. It was really great to see you finish off the run with us in such a good spirit :) Willie would still be trying to pull me off the guy :evil::D We both hope you get things sorted soon and we look forward to seeing you again :cool:

Big thanks to Willie and Linda for organising yet another great mini run, cant be faulted whatsoever, so a big thanks to you two. Everyone as friendly as ever and in good spirit which is always good to see.

Kirsty: didnt talk to u much but really hope you get your car back to 100% asap, know how u felt without screen wash (i ran out at the start of the run 'doh' heh and had to rely on GAJ splashin water up now and again from the road to clear my screen ... also the way you handled the accident was superb (as many said, i would not have been as composed as u were lol) and obviously wasnt your fault. Just an unfortunate incident :(, all the best on getting her sorted. Cant think of a new name as my brain is dead hehe.

At the start of the run we were talking to a bloke from one of the local MG owner clubs who said that they had a unique crossed saltire/chequered flag badge available.

Dad had a look at my baby when I got home!! He strapped the neck of the washer pump which had cracked hence washer mixture all over the road!! He also washed all the horrible dirty astra marks off her and even I was surprised in the day light how good she looks!!:cool:
I should have offered a prize for the person who came up with a new name for my baby!! (No Gaj you still can't have my chocolate santa!!) Prize I think has to go to LnL, I was maybe calm on the outside but I think "Mellow Yellow" did really well to hold her own against the nasty astra!!:mad: Thank you LnL I shall think of a prize to give you when I next see you!! ;):p(behave!!):D
