Frikkin..dammitall....sh*tt*n...aaaggghhhhhh!!!!!
Hit a seriously nasty pot hole on Saturday on the way out of Galashiels on the A7 North. Just after the 40 signs (for those who travel that road regularly)!!!
The whole car gave a massive jolt and bang.:dead: We stopped immediately expecting to see a V shape wedge cut into our R99. However, on first inspection there was nothing to see.:) But we noticed a marked loss of control when braking as we continued our journey.:dead::dead:
Took it to our dealer this morning. Tyre: wrecked.:dead: R99 Alloy Wheel: 50p shaped.:dead: Tracking: almost certainly well out.:dead:
The tyre also has a 6" frikkin nail sticking in to it too, so we're having to replace both front tyres, one of our alloy's and have a full KDS allignment. Just under £600 to fix.:mad::mad::mad:
Not a happy chappy!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Happened to me years ago in my Corsa (:dead: orrible wee thing). Took photos the next day after phoning the police the night it happened. Police told me that a minor accident had happened the next morning on the same spot & that I was lucky ().
Sent all details to the council and they stumped up for everthing , tyre , alloy & tracking :approve:.
Gotta be worth a try mate.

Good luck with getting it paid for. I've heard of someone having a similar problem and when they went to take photos the next morning the hole was filled in.

If you have registered your complaint with the Police beforehand then filling up the hole after the event renders the Roads Dept guilty.

Erm. No. At least not tonight. Really busy at work just now and... well... lets just say my Primary 5 Teacher was right in her Report Card.... "Is easily distracted by other class members and work suffers as a result."
But, I'll do something about it before the run and post it on the proper thread. FairDo?

Hope you get it sorted with the council, doesn't seem fair that you have to pay up for it!
Roads around here are like a slalom course to avoid the potholes, which is one of the reasons I took my big wheels off

Andy, hope you get some payback from the Council. I agree with Duncan - some of our roads (and not just the back roads) in Lanarkshire are not only annoying, they're downright dangerous, making you dive off-line to avoid disappearing into a Grand Canyon, or getting dragged into the verge by subsided sunken tarmac.
There have been quite a few occasions when I've been glad I'm on my slightly unfashionable 55 series 16" runflats as the pothole/drain/chasm would have killed a lower profile tyre/bigger wheel combo. Who knows what they spend the Road Tax on - it sure as hell isn't the roads.... No wonder BMW's 'sporty' suspension set-ups don't work properly over here.

Hi Andy
Haven't noticed that pothole - will watch out for it on my way home to Stow. Bad enough that had to fit new tyres to back - puncture and Ostles wouldn't fix it. Missed plenty of potholes tonight though - on the back roads - forgot that they were going to close the road. Had to take detour. All my polishing today done in vain.
Black and white car now dusty Brown again :(

Hi Paul, Long time to chat/see etc. Hope all is well.
They've actually filled the hole in. So you need fear its wrath no longer. Until the temporary fix falls out again, then it will be as lethal as ever.:(
How are you doing, and all that? Missed you on a few runs last year and this year. Got the Borders run going again in August, if you're interested.:D

Hi Andy & Lenore
Yeah would haved like that last one - had other things arranged unfortunately - will be try to make next ones. Might see you when I walk my partners pesky 'Westie' down the path near your house. Elizabeth lives in Heathery Rig - that is where my polishing took place yesterday. Don't have a driveway at my house.
