so i appreciate everyone drives differently....but....on average-how much miles do you get from a full tank of petrol? Or how much mpg does your wee computer claim you're getting? also, do people find that -
a) their mpg reading NEVER changes and
b) the average speed often resets to 0mph?

It really does depend. My computer can give an average MPG of anything from about 25 or even less if I have only been driving in town to 44 if I have been on a sedate drive to Inverness on business. That equates to between about 250 and over 400 miles from a full tank. On average I personally get around 300 miles.

I haven't experienced either of the behaviours you mention on my trip computer. I have the old one though which does not give current mpg or current speed - only averages since the last reset.

I'm with Gaj... my mpg normally sits at 32 - 35, however if I am driving particularly spirited, then it drops below 30. On a long run though, I can get near 40...:D

My cooper is averaging 30-35mpg actual figures as i don't have a trip comp:I when I had my MCS the trip comp was usually 5mpg too high to the actual figures!

Yep, i'm averaging around 300 miles to the tank, approx 42 litres per fill up.
I've also had the MTH remap :)

My MINI averaged 32mpg with a high of 38 and a low 26 (Cullen Run). The best figures for LPG was 33mpg which at the time was 2.5 times cheaper than unleaded so that was the same as 84mpg.

Mine was probably around te 250 - 300 mile per tank mark, but on two separate occasions driving down south I left Dundee with a full tank, and the fuel light came on while approaching Chesterfield. A few weeks later I made a similar journey, and made it all the way to the services near Silverstone before the light came on. The first trip i wasn't hanging about, the second I was at about 60-70mph all the way...

So your right foot make s a bit of a difference! :blackeye::D

I'm with GAJ too - he said exactly what i'd have said. I think my record was 430 miles in my previous MINI during a long motorway cruise to Oxford (and part of the way home!)

The Cooper short gearing doesn't help it on the motorway, I wouldn't be suprised if an S had better fuel economy when cruising over 70mph.

The one option I always wanted for the Cooper, was a six-speed gearbox! Especially, as you say, on the motorway.

Only the 2004 onwards (?) models have an instant MPG readout available... not that its particularly useful..... 99mpg..... 10mpg.... 99mpg.... 60mpg..... 7mpg.... 99mpg.... etc.

I do big long country road runs to and from work and i usually average 39-41.5mpg. If im going hard to work then about 35mpg. Its a 2005 cooper with 2500miles on it now. usually get about 360 miles to a full tank.

My regular run to work is on good old country roads most of the time, get 300 - 330 Miles from a full tank.

yeh mine is the 2004+ model and does have instant mpg readout as well as average....but the average is constant..! how do you reset it? im gettin about 300 miles from a full tank too, but for some reason thot i used to get more..? maybe not tho! maybe my newly developed lead foot has something to do with it!

To reset - with the display showing average, just hold the button in for 2 seconds and it will reset.

Driving with a less heavy foot and staying below 70 (or even 60) makes an enormous difference.

ta....will do that later on then :D and will just deal with the fuel consumption...too much fun!

Reset trip meter when I filled up and it's now on 290 miles and the light just came on so I'd say 300 - 320 a tank.
