Arrived at uni today, parked the car, went in to pick up some stuff, came back 5 mins later, unlocked the car and the electrics completely shut down.

Mileometer reset, clock reset, stereo reset etc etc. Plus the locks had been disabled so i couldnt lock the boot or passenger door as the key only locked the drivers door.

This has never happened before.

It is now working fine for no apparent reason. Other than Martin S, has anyone else experienced this?

My other half had this on her One and my parents had the same with thier Cooper. Both had a loose battery terminal, after 2mins work with a spanner they have been fine ever since. Hope this helps.

I had this. It was the service interval that reset and all the other electircs cut out. It was the ABS wiring loom which was shorting out. Was replaced under warranty.

Resolved the problem

It was, as sw suggested, a loose battery connection.

PHEW!

A strange thing happened tonight, my brake lights stayed on after I had parked the car and switched on the alarm. I had to switch the ignition on again before they went off, very odd!
