We've been looking forward to getting this done for ages. Picked our MINI up on Friday from Menzies where it went through a transformation. We think it now looks as all MINI's should. Colour coded all round. Many thanks to Ian and Allan (bodyshop) at Menzies for a fantastic job, at a great price. And of course for their hospitality on Friday. Top Job!

stop showing me these pictures, I just want to spend more money :disapprove:

Also the length of time it took Allan to wash the car this afternoon which is colour coded would save me hours every week!!:D

Did you guys get the car in that colour to match your garage door? :D

Thanks to everyone for all your very kind words about our cars. You're all tooo nice.

Wul, I updated our sig image before you posted your message.... is it not, well, did it not go, does it look, not like the old one was used to.... Are the wheel arches painted on the MINI in the sig pic?

Linsey, you're gonna love it. But.... <coughshouldhavegonetomenziescough>

Big Col, actually the MINI was pepper white and the X5 was silver. We had to paint them both to match the garage door colour. If we'd thought of it earlier, it would have been cheaper to paint the garage door, but we can't all have the gift of foresight.;)

Sometimes I type these things and I'm not sure my humour comes through very well. Never mind, I'm sure you get the gist of my answer.:D:D

Hey AndyP&lenore. Do you have any problems with stone chips at the back arch, taken the paint off? My car is really rough on the plastic even tho I have front mud flaps. Id like to get them colour coded do you think it suits a black car?? Plus I have back mud flaps should I get them painted or take them off? Thanks Andrew

We haven't had any problems so far with paint chipping. but we've only done a few hundred miles in the car since it was painted.

We only have the front mudguards, but we haven't painted them. Starts to get into the Citroen Saxo boy racer territory if you start painting mud flaps as well - in my humble opinion.:D

As for if it suits sa black car, Wul's post with Sh@z's pic says it all. It looks fab!

I would agree and disagree with that!!:p

I reckon they would look good on a dark coloured car, like yours or red or BRG.....BUT reckon it would look very tacky on lighter colored cars such as electric blue, liquid yellow etc.

Just my opinion i suppose!!:D

Equally so, I'd agree and disagree.... Dark colours like Black and BRG, you'd get away with it. But Red? Mini Red is a bright racing red colour. I wouldn't paint the mud flaps on a red Mini. IMHO.

Looks good sir with your darker shade of car.

If it were me (in my Pure Silver MINI i.e. a lighter shade) I reckon I would go with graphite painted arches. The lighter the shade go graphite & the darker go body colour me thinks :approve:

Just gimme the dosh & I'll be off ;)

I got my Mudflaps painted as well. Thought it looked ok. I also got scotch guard put onto the rear arch just where it gets stone chipped and it seems to help. Mines been done for over a year now with 25k+ and still looks great.

like the mud flaps. do you find that it keeps a wee bit less mud off the back end of the car?

S7JGW
17th February 2006, 10:30 PM
There from BMW, got them painted and then stuck on bonnet badges to make them a bit different. It does seem to stop a bit of the dirt off the back of the car, but still gets dirty, just the shape of the MINI i suppose.

Why is your sig mini in red though?

Lynsey

The one in my sig is my previous mini that I traded in, in November, havent got round to updating sig because until yesterday, every pic of my car was taken at sunset, when it was gettin dark! Sig will be changed soon! And yes that is the jinxed ground of my falkirk bairns!!

Looks great guys....Now what to do first? The Dastek tune-up or the coded arches? Hmmmm. Decisions decisions.......

Now you've gone “Playmini” Andy, I might just take a couple of hints from your motor!!!
