Right,
after having a look at the route again (not done another recce yet..) I have decided to put a cap on the number if cars. it was going to be 20, but by the time I had made my mind up, it's 21 now....;)
I will start a reserve list, so those of you who still want to go, put your name down, there are always call-offs..:D
The main reason for this is a couple of the car parks/stops do not have huge amounts of space and I want to make sure we don't have problems.
Hope you understand.

Hey Thanx for findin room for the reserves
I will now manage a trip this summer
As for the recce...I work in the area and the A817 from Loch Lomond to Garelochhead is a brillyant road, amazin, give it a wee try , 10 miles long, 20 if return done, highly recommended, the next bit, the road from Garelochhead to Arrochar(a814) is really hilly/bumpy and a lot of arse scrappin could be involved in this route, so up from Loch Lomond along the A817 around the roundabout and back onto the A82, give it a try it is a brill road.
Another wee comment , a few years ago i saw a Rolls Royce rally , aboot 75 o them go up the rest and be thankful, A83, but instead of goin up the main road thay went the old road, which has some great hairpin bends at the end, you can see it in the Glen (Glen Croe) when you are goin up the main road, a wee request to the land owners could give us another wee interesting detour
Pop into the T.I.C./Forestry commision office at Ardgarten if you fancy it
Anyway enjoy yir holiday, unfortunately Ah cannae do the Recce as I will be in The big Apple.

It was just seperate ways in Oban. Loads of restaurants/cafe's/chippies.
Craig
17th July 2006, 05:04 PM
yeah - it will be much the same this year... due to the numbers involved, it's a mare trying to get one place to eat and please everyone, so we will be stopping in Oban as per last year and everyone can suit themselves... Minimad/Tony - you are gonna LOVE this one man! These roads are where you REALLY enjoy your MINI. Heard you 'Tooting' going past the shop yesterday. X30YES and myself will be meeting in Hamilton to run up - we'll arrange times soon. I take it we're all meeting at Stirling as usual - and/or Callander?

HELP!!!
I need the help of an Aberdonian... :D (It's nothing to do with sheep.:blackeye::p:D)
a member (AN03REW) has agreed to take my chili pack spoiler off my hands (Freeee ofcourse), and to keep the good MINI Karma flowing, I wondered if a kind Aberdeen person could collect from me on the run and take it back to Aberdeen with them. This would save him quite a few quid on delivery... It will all be packaged so as not to damage anyone's interior. I believe he's from Peterhead.
Anybody help ? ?
If not, I'll go and see what the delivery costs are... :D

Had a proper !!PANIC!! last night - that bloody Emissions light came on again (remember the Oxford Run folks?).
Into Dealer this morning, ran Emissions checks (MOT style) and everything passed, but C02 reading is high - they said it must be v. marginal as is all within limits and it will be fine to drive - so I'm still on for Sunday....phew! Cost me £40.00 this time (F.O.C. last one!) as it's a Playmini Manifold/Cat. Have Emailed Playmini to see what they say. I didn't mention your name Andy!!!!! Funny how things always pop up at the most inconvenient times eh? As the Bishop said to the Mother Superior. So if there's a big bang on Sunday, you know where to look.....Oh well “Live fast....die.... middle-aged”.

Aw shoot, Euan, thats the last thing you need.:( How long have you had your PlayMini exhaust? If it's under a year it will still be under warranty. Although I'm pretty sure you've had it more than a year.:(
Euan, have you put any other fuel in the car this time? Or have you stuck to Optimax?
Glad the cars still ok for Sunday though.:D

Hmmmmm, might have to reconsider if there's heavy rain. I won't be much fun in an MX5 if its pishing down, ever been in a tent in heavy rain?
I could bring the big car though - it would be cheaper.........

Cheers Andy,
Had the Manifold for way more than a year and the system for more than two, so no comeback if the cat's going/gone - I'll be interested to see what Playmini say. Filled it up with BP Ultimate in Biggar at the start of the month, but have filled at least once with usual Optimax since then. Maybe the BP chemicals don't like Playmini Cats - remember I had just filled up with Ultimate on the way up from Oxford? We discussed this before Re. your manifold problems a while back. However, as I said, emissions are OK (I have the print out to prove it) and the car's running fine, so I'm going to stick my Hendrix badge over the emissions light and forget about it for now! ROCK & ROLL eh?
If I have to, I'll check out alternative Manifolds etc as I don't want to put the O.E. one back on - too restrictive.... and too quiet! Hey Ho...mair money....still, I could incorporate it into my Dastek Brained & Pulleyed/GRS Intercooled/Alta Inducted/Yokohama Tyred/Image 17" Wheeled daydream Autumn Spendfest. It's cheaper than a trading it for a new standard 'S' after all...just.

Eaun, there's defo a trend with Ultimate here. Although I wouldn't have thought it would take a month to develop a problem.:(
I wouldn't worry too much about the light coming on. One of the "fix" options Dastek considered with our faulty cat was to put a wee box of tricks on the engine management plug to confuse the management system to think the Co2 sensor is reading correctly. So that may be an option for you to consider. Although I have no idea who/where you would get that done:question::question::question:
Be interesting to see what PlayMini says, thats if they even bother replying.
A.:)

Is it only playmini setups this is occuring on with using bp ultimate? (I've used ultimate since i first filled it up, only used optimax a couple times)

Yeah, the PlayMini cat seems to be sensitive to the additive in Ultimate, for some reason. When our emmisions warning light came on we had just filled up with Ultimate a couple of hours ealier. Then on the Oxford run, Euan had just filled up with Ultimate before his emissions waring light came on. Can't catagorically there's a link, but a trend is certainly developing.:(

We don't now, but we did when the emissions warning light came on. Euan still has a full system. We just have the cat-back system.

We won't be praying for sunshine as that stops customers coming into the cinema and we have an expensive MINI habit to feed.
But I don't mind praying for sunshine for the Argyll & Bute area. Only "him upstairs" seldom listens to me anyway, so there would be little point.;)
