Run Through The Angus Glens - CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE:dead:
BASIC ROUTE (More detailed route and directions will be given nearer the time)
9.30AM - Meet at McDonalds in Forfar (just of the A90). Have a wee get together (and a big mac for the unhealthy ones) and head off about 9.45AM
9.45AM - Head to Glamis, turn off to Kirriemuir, then head up Glen Clova. Stop at the top of the glen to collect stragglers and and have a wee rest.
11.10AM - Head off again, down the glen to Kirriemuir, to Noranside (open prison so close windows and lock the doors:p). Continue onto Menmuir, and then up Glen Lethnot, past the Hunthill Lodge for a packed lunch at the top car park (quite small so well have to squeeze in!!). Should arrive roughly 12.30PM
1.30PM - Head of down the glen again to the foot, then through to edzell, and a 15 minute break and stop at the Edzell Muir. Good group picture spot due to huge grassy area and full of ice cream shops!!:D
2.30PM - Head up Glen Esk from Edzell (excellent road) and re gather at the top!
3.30PM - Head back down the glen and off to Brechin (via Edzell) and gather at the Springfield House for a final get together and a few social ales (soft ales for the drivers;)). Should be in Brechin by 4.30PM

Oh yes!
A nice wee run near home! That'll do nicely! Is that the road that heads from Edzell up into the middle of nowhere, and the road just eventually stops? There's a hiking path and stuff at the end beside a wee car park?
Whatever the roads are.. put me down!
:D

We can stop at the top for a wee chat n banter, can even go for a hike up the hills if u fancy:p

It's a mark 2 MX5 1.8 Sport, and it is quicker than my old Cooper. I wouldn't mind finding out what time the mark 1 did round the fifth gear track compared with the Cooper S though.
s12cot
13th April 2006, 07:12 PM
i agree the 1.8 sport is quicker than a cooper, i know cause i have driven a couple, but the s will beat it hands down..... at least you get easy over steer and dont have to lift of sharply to get it!

I did the Glen Clova road on Sunday. It was brilliant. We wanted to see how close we could get to the snowy hilltops. At one point felt like we could have put our hands out and touched one though it was just a trick of the road. Should be great fun.

Just a quick question to run organisers of past and present....and future:p
Since they'll be a fair pile of cars gathering in the morning at Macdonalds carpark should i maybe phone them and ask for permission even though we wont be there too long??
Another possibilities are the council buildings car park right next door, but its in the process of being built and haven't been home for a while so not sure how far on they are with it.
Any advice would be brilliant guys:D
Also for all you new members......still time and space to sign up!! Should be an ace run, and hopefully we'll get some good weather!:approve:

don't think it will be a problem as long as the car park if fairly big... We use Stirling Services quite a lot and they don't mind (but some people invariably buy something from the shop or restaurant).
It's your call, but as long as the car park is not too small, I wouldn't worry about it...:D

well Smitty, I am going to have to pull out of this run - Bu$$er
turns out I got the date wrong and "her indoors" and "the outlaw" are going to glasgow the night before to see Birley Shassey and staying over night... I forgot that I'm the chaffeur in the Jag taking them in and picking them up on the Sat morning to make them look important:(
So I will not make it as it will be about 1pm before I get home..
Enjoy your day out and if you have problems in McDonald car park it's feck all to do with me ;)

Ok guys, i have some bad news:(
I'm going to have to cancel this:(
Just got a placement through Uni sorted out for the summer. But unfortunately I have to work weekends for the first month or so as I am responsible for assisting a computer system change over, and the easiest time to do that is of course, weekends when most employees aren't working!:dead:
I would ask for holidays but already requested T in the Park as a long weekend, plus one other so I do not want to go getting in the bad books, before even starting.:disapprove:
I feel really bad about this, as you have all probably set Sunday 4th aside for this run, and I apologise deeply for this, but unfortunately University and work/placement comes first, which I’m sure you will agree.
I also apologise for the late notice, but my placement was only confirmed yesterday, so I was holding out until then.
If someone would like to take on the run themselves then please do, just contact me and I can give you more details on the route.
Otherwise, I’ll cancel it for now, but PROMISE to re-arrange it for later in the year (had a look but most dates taken for the summer) OR make sure it will be done next year!
Sorry guys, was really looking forward to this, and to meeting you lot for the first time:blackeye::dead:
Cheers and see you in Arbroath!:)
