Is it legal?

I saw a car yesterday with the front number plate displaying the registration in mirror image, so that it would look correct if viewed by another driver in their mirror.

It looked weird and I actually had to walk round and look at the rear plate to make sure I was not imagining things.

Doubt it - I thought your not allowed to change with the font, layout, colour or anything else (to be fair, I've not left much!)

I think you might find that someone is playing a joke on this poor guy and turned his plate upside down. There was a spate of this in Aberdeen a while back where people would either turn plates upside down or put the back on the fron and vice versa. Thats would make this guys reg number S86 DSX

Actually, I'm wrong, a palindrome is a word that is spelt the same backwards and fowards.

Palindrome is where the word reads the same from either end.
I remember from school a palindromic phrase (if that is the correct term)
"Able was I ere I saw Elba" - supposedly attributed to Napoleon!

The other kind of palindrome is the mirrored palindrome. These are palindromes which are graphically reversible. I work for the government for an agency (info non-disclosed) which monitors everything everyone is doing all over the country. I can probably get into your computer Wul if your online long enough! ....
