Funny you should ask that!!!
We could do with some help with stewarding especially in the arena whilst acts are in progress. It will entail wearing a hi-vis jacket and "patroling" the area between the public and the act when the arena is in use.
The cops were less than enthusiastic about a convoy this year as it was a "drain on resources for an hour or so and these officers could be better placed elswhere"
I have yet to meet with the them and the emergency planning people but I will suggest that if the MINI convoy is not officially organised by us then it will more than likely happen anyway..... unofficially.....
I'll let you know

If it's the same as the previous years, everybody meets at various places (Stirling, Aberdeen, (Hermiston Gait? Edinburgh etc) then piles down to Dundee and into the cinema car park. Then when everybody's together we have a HUGE convoy to Arbroath, where Howard and the Police take over! :D
I hereby volunteer my services to lead the masses from Dundee to Arbroath if it's required again. :)
The A92 Dundee - Arbroath road is open again now (no need for the back roads (unless anybody *really* wants to ;):D) and the trip takes a lot less time now (approx 10-15 mins) on the Dual Carriageway !
The thread for meeting up and convoys will surely be along shortly... :D:cool:

It's not too late to add another one, is it?
Hadn't decided whether to come with you lot for a 3rd year, or take the classic with the Mini Clan...
But I've now heard that the Clan are joining up with you, and our classic really needs some work done, so the decision is now made to come along in the modern MINI again this year!
We'll be joining you all at Stirling, so I'll update the appropriate convoy thread too.

still here.. looking in now and again.
No flyers are available to print. Posters are due in the shops and tourist information centres during this week.
I see from a previous post the Mini Clan are teaming up again. Should be one long train of Minis in the convoy:D:D
There has been a slight change to the assembly point in Arbroath for us....
We will now meet at the Seaforth Hotel (now closed) car park. For those of you who have been before, it is the large Hotel in front of you after after you have gone under the railway bridge.
Therefore - Pass McDonalds and continue straight ahead. Turn right under the rail bridge at the mini roundabout. The hotel is in front of you.
Tayside's finest are short on resources so we have to cut out a few road junctions.:I

Absolutely cracking day! Spent most of it sitting in the splitting sunshine behind my car, chatting! Excellent :D
Thanks to all who had a hand in the organising of the runs there - no mean feat.
Shame most of us missed the parade though..... ;)
We stayed to help the two crashed Clan minis, then realsied everyone else had gone and we didn't know where we were..... or where we should have been going...... headed for the main road and just sailed into Arbroath as the cops were going away from stopping the traffic from the parade. JUST missed it!
Saw the red barrows briefly - could see them running around on the grass from my seat behind the car. Thought they were just practising as there was no music or anything. Then they packed into their vans and left!
The Hunter jet was amazing, though it was a shame the Tornado wasn't there this year - that really left me speechless last year.
Cracking day out as always, Howard, a big thanks to all who organised!

That would be me and a few others - Basically we pulled to the outside lane in a 40 to pass a caravan on the inside lane - he was doing about 90 and ended up right up my behooky flashing his lights and showing "the bird" it was taking a while for us all to get passed so he decided to undertake us - with his offside wheels still in the outside lane - ie mirror to mirror then forced his way back in the outside lane. I believe he'd carved a few other MINI's up before he got to me also!!:dead:

Eh? A Zafira driver was giving the person at the back of a queue abuse? What a muppet!!!
Someboby was jealous ;)

Well, yet another year passes at Arbroath. . .
Must say that thought this year was better than last, apart from not making the cruize through the town. Was good to meet so many great members. Though I am terrible for names so if I spoke to you feel free to pm me.
Got a load of photos and will be posting them shortly.
Looking forward to the next one.

Superb day yet again!! Hunter Jet did it for me:D:D
a big Thanks from me and the rest of the volunteers to all who made it through.
Sorry if I didn't speak to you all, I had a lot of clubs and traders to get round. Nice to see all the cars and owners again.
Great turnout!
Yes!!!!!! it will happen again next year. The cops have told us to avoid clashing with the Open Golf so might be early July next time around.
We must seriously consider making the word MINI from the parked cars though.
Any thoughts for acts or attractions for next year????
Red Arrows??......;)
Thanks again to all

Love the idea of spelling MINI with the Minis :D
How about a Spitfire or similar for next year? You can't beat the sound of a merlin

What about asking the 56 Sqn guys to bring the F3 again? That is always a sight to see and the Viccy Park is the perfect stage for them. They're only over the water!

I'll apply to RAF soon to see what we can get. I believe there is no Tornado F3 display now as the Eurofighter Typhoon has stepped into this role. Might get a flyby at least!!

Drat.. I was just about to mention that too, Instead of the F3, you should see if the guys from the Conversion squadron could do a display with the Typhoon! That's one LOOOUUUD beastie!:cool::cool::D:D:D
