How come sometimes I can't "Subscribe" to a thread? The option to subscribe doesn't even appear on this (http://www.newminiscotland.co.uk/snitzforums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5782) thread.

Seems just to be a bug in Snitz Forums. Gonna have to live with it for the moment I'm afraid!
