Hi Guys

Sometime since I've been here.. some may know me from a little forum down south :D Have a little trip planned next month to Edinburgh and one of the prerequisites of the trip is a casino...

Can anyone recomend one in Edinburgh.... I have a list of them from various places, but personal recomendation is always so much better.

Any help gratefully received

Many thanks

Hi Wibbly

What date are planning on coming up to Edinburgh ?
I live in Edinburgh and know few folk who go to the casinos, so will try and get you recommendations.
Also have you thought about going to Glasgow for the casino ?

Cheers
David

Hiya David end of October we are up your way!

We are based in Edinburgh so are flying in on Saturday morning, leisurely afternoon & evening, and then into a casino for the evening... we are hoping to find a nice one more than anything else, and one where we can eat.

Any ideas gratefully received :D

Cheers

Wibbly - probably the nicest Casino with the best restaurant is the Maybury which is very near the airport on the outskirts of the city - about 20mins in a taxi from the city centre - the other casinos in town are at either end of Princes Street and never really heard anyone fame them for their culinary excellence. I think you need to register as a member for them all though. But there are plenty excellent eateries in edinburgh - just bring a pack of cards!! :p

LOL.... thanks Wul thats great, we are on a stag doo, so Princes Street is our target no doubt! I think as long as they serve food that will do us tbh... I'll check out the Maybury, thanks. We just want to make sure we can find somewhere decent tbh, as you are correct, we're pretty sure there is a 24 hour membership cooling off period before you can use any establishment so its a case of finding somewhere and joining before we come up....

Was hoping someone could perhaps recomend a particular establishment... strange request but hey, aint they all

The gambling laws have just changed at the begining of the month, but I cant remember if that includes the 24 Hour regestration being changed.

Ahh, this is what the BBC report has to say about it - Link (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4299582.stm)

The local Casino in Dundee was making full effect of the law change handing out flyers at the football on Saturday past.

you definately want to go to the maybury! i've a brother thats worked in every casino (except the newest one in leith) in edinburgh and he reckons its the by far the best one. the food is supposed to be top notch. my best mate also worked there. the one in leith (i'm sure its a stakis) is meant to be impressive but is supposed to be dead most of the time. the ones you'll find in the city centre are pretty dingy and you'd probably be disappointed. there is still a 24 hour wait for a membership to kick in but i'm sure they're open till 5 or 6am these days

Thanks Scotty, problem we have cos we are in a group of 10-12 of us we won't head straight for the casino, we are looking at a 'few' beers in Princes street first, trying to move a group of 10-12 of us around after a few sherberts is just going to be a complete arse! By the looks of it, we are looking at Stanley Edinburgh Berkeley Casino and the York Place Casino if anyone knows them...

Thanks for the info tho re the 24 hour wait, we were under the impression this had been lifted!

Just wanted to follow up my visit to say what a fantastic time we all had in Edinburgh... :)

The casino we ended up in the City was well less than impressive but your Scottish ladies more than made up for it elsewhere ;) :D

We had a real hoot, and I have to say Edinburgh is such a great place, no trouble, the people are very warm and friendly and the bars/restaurants/clubs are excellent....
