Anyone any idea what this is?

A friend of mine took it while on holiday and wondered if I knew - I think it looks italian in the 50's, but I'll probably find out it's a Volvo or something!

Just to clarify, I mean the car and not the bloke who got in the way in the black tshirt!

Looks a bit like an old Austin Healey... but the badge on the front looks a wee bit Jag....

S'not a Ferarri is it? something like an old 250?

Good question :)

Would agree that it’s not an Austin Healey, me thinks the grille slats look far to wide, even for works 100 etc...

The colour is right for an old ‘Mike Hawthorn’ era or older Ferrari maybe a 1953 ‘375MM’... or something else expensive and Italian, I know I'll see if it matches anything I've in my garage when I get home latter

I Was visiting my 2yr old Nephew the other weekend, and with his Dad being Italian and passionate about F1 (well, not this year :p) the wee man's learnt a new name for the prancing horse team... ’Oh-dear Ferrari’ :D

I would say it is a very early racing Alfa Romeo.

Could well be a racing Alfa Romeo... the people milling around seem to be overtaking it on foot :D:D:D

it's 100% a black Alfa in the background, so could have been an Alfa meet, good thinking

I asked him a bit more about it - turns out it was the Gran Premio Nuvolari which is a race (well, was) around Italy. He saw them in Siena last week. So I suspect it's an Alfa or a Ferrari.

Here (http://www.tazionuvolari.it/finale.htm) Is a list of the cars that took part this year - might help you narrow it down a bit. That site also has a photogallery by car number but I cant read the number on the side

PS you might want to make your pics a wee bit smaller Euan ;)

It's an Osca MT4 (http://www.motorimania.net/manifestazioni/auto_storiche/osca/images/Osca.Mt4.1500.1.jpg) with spots fitted which makes it even harder to recognise. :)

Looks like it took place in LE MANS in 1954 driven by Farnaud/Macchieraldo.

They also made a hardtop

It's a gorgeous looking thing.

Thanks for your help guys, mystery solved!

As an aside, I do have some more pics but I know the cars - a DB2 and a Ferrari, but I'll get shot putting the pics up as they are the same size!

Sorry, I've had 2 conference calls in the last hour and half and was running about a bit madly. Got a meeting in a minute as well, so has been hectic!

Anyway, I've now cropped it so it fits better!

Sorry!

You didnt need to crop it - just resize the image as a whole in any image package
