View Full Version : 18" wheels that scuff

Just slapped some 18" wheels on my car. They came off of Nenah's BBR (cheers:D:D) but they scuff (at the rear) over speed bumps of when driving on rougher country roads or over pot holes etc. John has already removed the wierd (pointless) plastic bits from under the rear arches which has helped a lot but hasn't solved the problem completely.
Has anyone had this problem?
Any suggestions on a fix?

Have you had your car lowered, if not, then a fully adjustable suspension set up may be the answer ;)

I think you should try swopping the wheels from front to rear as the rear tyres appear to be completely different,i think the fronts would have more chance clearing at the rear;)

Good point John. I'll give that a shot tonight. They were rubbing really bad on the way to work. I'm just worried I end up damaginf the new rubber.
Frim what I remember BS, the car has standard mini sport springs.

Sleepy got a brand new Cabrio suspension which will be stiffer than the hard top suspension if it fits you can have it for nothing:question:
Not that I would know anything but looking at your pic got me thinking something. can you post a pic square on to rear wheel please.

Those springs would be handy Scottie!
I'll post a pic if I can. I'm at work and might not have the right cable. Failing that, i'll post when i'm home.

SORRY Big G never heard back from you so thought you didn't want it.;)
I don't mind it's sitting here doing nothing so whoever wants it can have it.
Might be in Larbert this weekend or next but need time to rake everything out the garage as I've a few items to look for.

Right I'll let you know when I've got everything looked out if not this weekend then the next or the next will have a better idea of my weekend plans by Friday.

Ohhh bum:mad:That's me lost out on these twice now:(;)
I've actually got a set of standard 'cooper' springs but can't find out if there any different from standard 'one' springs. For sure the 'S' set would be stiffer that's why I was going for them......oh well8) :p:D:approve:

The first pic is the car sitting as normal, the second is with that one wheel parked up on a piece of wood about half the hight of a kerb.
