Looking to spend around £150 on a digi camera that takes decent pics, is easy to use and transfers using USB. Don't need anything too fancy. Can anyone recommend any cameras?

I like the Canon range - just got an Ixus 30 but its a wee bit more at £199 from jessops.
Very small and easy to use though with some excellent results. Try to get something with an optical zoom though.

Col - Lots of bargains around at the moment.

All depends on what and how you intend to use it, will you want a zoom, will it need to be small etc. Buy it online though the Ixus 30 goldmini mentioned is £174 including delivery from Komplett.com

Doesn't look too bad for the money - good resolution and zoom. Have to say I don't know how good Kodak Cameras are though.

I am in no way an expert on digital cameras but my own opinion is more than zoom funtions and megapixels - find one that will let you switch off the screen to save batteries or has an excellent battery life to start with. So many people i know who's digi cam batteries last less time than it would take to boil a kettle!!

Sound advice Wul mate.

BD is the Sony Cybershot any good too?

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/46148/art/sony/cybershot-dsc-p73.html?itag=2999

I don't need anything fancy. It'll just be for holiday snaps etc.

Looks like a v.good camera, my old man had an older version it was a cracker. Make sure you price the memory cards as well - I've got a 512mb xD card for £60 again from Costco, I think memory sticks are cheaper though.

www.ebuyer.com are excellent for memory cards :)

Avoid the Sony! They use a proprietary storage format which is expensive. Stick with CF Cards or SD. CF tend to be cheapest. Canon are good as are Kodak. The Kodak may not be the sexiest camera you can buy but the one you linked to is a good buy.

Oooh they're a lil outside my budget BS. I promised myself a cap of £150.

BD is the Sony one better than the Kodak one? If price is anything to go by the Kodak is more expensive rrp.

I don't think they'll be much difference, my choice would be sony though.

Big Col

Hmmm. All I'm looking for is a camera that stores pics and can then be transferred to my laptop via usb. Hmmm. I'm crap at making decisions about buying stuff!

this site (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sidebyside.asp)

They also have a pretty good buying guide. (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare.asp)

I've a canon S30 which I use as you plan to. Its excellent though maybe a bit bulkier than some of the very latest models. the battery life isnt too bad but I always carry a second just in case. :D:D:D

Fuji would be my choice (I have one )great picture quality and as GAJ says stay away from Sony as the have their 'own' memory stick which is not compatible with any other device .Canon Ixus is also a good choice but going up the price range .Dont be taken in by the 4-5 million megapixels, I only use 2 max as the size of the picture above that is huge, and below were taken at 1 million !!!
www.dealtime.co.uk will give you a good idea re price , www.currys.co.uk have a sale on .http://www.mini2.com/gallery/personal/20144/54550_thumb.jpg (http://www.mini2.com/gallery/personal/20144/54550.jpg) http://www.mini2.com/gallery/personal/20144/54730_thumb.jpg (http://www.mini2.com/gallery/personal/20144/54730.jpg)http://www.mini2.com/gallery/personal/20144/54731_thumb.jpg (http://www.mini2.com/gallery/personal/20144/54731.jpg)

When Munro bought mine (2 years now) he was told the Canon S30 was better than S40. That is 3m against 4m pixels. Simple to use, the fact its mine is testament to that! :D:D:D
