Received this today I'm going to order mine for the Cabrio.

John Cooper Works sport brake

We're pleased to announce the release of the JCW sport brake for MINI One, One D, Cooper and Cooper S Hatch and Convertible models (R50, R52 and R53)

The sport brake is available for the front axle and improves thermal capacity with larger internally ventilated brake discs, an enlarged brake piston diameter and sport brake pads for the front and rear axles. The response has considerably more bite and provides greater deceleration. The brake casings are finished in red and marked with the JCW logo.

Designed in conjunction with JCW and BMW Group brake specialists, the sport brake gives a sporty driver additional safety, particularly when the brake is subjected to high thermal stress. Even with the sporting properties, no deterioration in comfort will be experienced compared to the series brakes.

The JCW sport brake can only be fitted in conjunction with the following wheels.

R95 JCW
R85 S spoke
R90 cross spoke composite
R98 cross spoke
R99 double spoke
R91 5-star bullet
R87 double spoke
Once fitted the car must be run-in carefully for the first 200km (about 125 miles), after this the sport brake will be fully effective.

If they are 1 pots, for that price did you consider a set of Brembo's or Tarox's or something?

Fair enuff its got JCW on it, but Brembo is soo much cooler...... isnt it?

Hi Scottie do you know whether the JCW strut brace has been released yet? it was supposed to be released at the same time as the brake kit. I think you should go for the brake kit as it looks fab and I will be getting it as soon as. Can I ask who your dealer is? and does he have prices yet?
Cheers J Cee

I thought the JCW Brakes were 4-pots, as in the 'Challenge' Spec? These have had a great write-up whenever I've read about them Re. the track cars. I thought the road version would be the 4-pots with suitable pad material.

So how 'Potty' are the "Sport" ones? Can't be less than 4 for that money.........But then, BMW is involved........JCW "Sport" Suspension is over a grand (fitted) for non-adjustable shocks & springs. They should Retro-fit it F.O.C. for all the poor souls who have to put up with the rather lumpy (albeit less so in latter guise) "Sport Plus" set up!

This 'Warranty' thing is an excuse to make money methinks. They've got everybody (including me) paranoid about it. I'd love to get the JCW stuff, as it will be good, but not at any price. I mean, you can have adjustable Eibach/Bilstein etc Coil-Overs and Brembo/AP 4-Pots for the practically the same money. "Peace of mind" doesn't come cheap eh?

How much better performance-wise are they over standard setup or standard plus a pad or disk and pad upgrade? Any figures regarding stopping distances etc?

You Could always paint the standard calipers red for the "coolness" effect!
