OK folks why does my home copy of Itunes not rip RCA/EMI copy controlled CD's but my work copy does?

Me's Confused:clown:8)

EDIT: using version 4.6.015 BTW - downloading 4.7 just now.

Maybe the CD drive?

Just a thought.

Yeah it could be the firmware/model of the cd drive. Have a look for hacked firmware for the drive ;)

Yes iTunes will manage your previously ripped mp3 files. It also can rip your own CDs. - Download it and try it - it's free.

Seen the new iPod shuttle? - a flash based iPod.

Sorry Wul, I've got another question:

Yesterday I was updating my playlists and noticed that my purchased music is not being transfered to my ipod 4th Gen 40gb. I've checked that i've got the latest software update for iPod and iTunes and done a factory settings restore on the ipod but without any success. The purchased music plays in iTunes no problem.

I've recently gone back to OSX 10.3 as all the newer versions make my iMac take over 5minutes to reboot. Anyone else had this problem?

Is iTunes set to automatically sync with your iPod or to only sync selcted playlists or ticked songs? iTunes 4.7.1 was released yesterday which might be worth a try.

KJ - I use Itunes to rip my CD's but dinnae have an Ipod - I find for some reason it rips at a better quality than musicmatch although it is a bitty slower.

Sorry folks - did a search for firmware hacks on my CD Rom - no joy it's a samsung SD-616 DVD/CD Rom incase your interested! Also have a CD burner drive and no luck ripping with that either! :(

Wul you have probably tried this - but read the last comment in this thread (http://www.morrissey-solo.com/articles/03/07/11/0654212.shtml), its about a Morrisey album though ;)
