Anyone know of any suspension specialists who could set my car up properly :evil: :question:
After the latest run it's very obvious that my car is in desperate need of the suspension being set up correctly.

Absolutely, the car tended to drift when going over straight bumps in the road and cornering was hellish, felt like it was gonna go and then catch itself, difficult to explain

That's what i thought, but, having done the old bouncing up and down on the rear end :I the car does not appear to be so.
I have not set the car up too stiff, but, maybe the rear sway bar and the front strut brace are having an impact.
I don't have the time or patience to set the car up again myself, but cannot (sell) or continue to drive the car in it's present state

Was thinking about trying them when I finally put my Spax setup on

If you have no luck with them, Peugeot Ecosse might give it a go!! They fitted my Avo fully adjustable kit to my 205 and did a fantastic job! 01506 516106, bit of a long shot, but they might be willing to give it a try!:D

Got a nice reply from Wallace Performance, they are leaning towards a full alignment check and adjustment of the Spax set up.
They reckon they can do all within an hour :cool:

Going by the prices they quoted for the alignment check it's much cheaper than the BMW service ;) cheers Martin :)

Cool, let me know how it goes - I will let your car be the guinea pig :D, their prices did seem quite reasonable and they have got a full laser alignment rig there as well.

Very happy with the service so far, good communications which is good, am tentatively booked in for Thursday, depends on whether my tyre/wheel are fixed ;)

Good news, only need a new tyre, no damage at all to the rim, so, as the other front tyre was well worn am getting 2 new tyres :p merry xmas to me :(

Its a whole lot better than a new wheel as well. Glad its getting sorted.

Yes, the rears were changed, actually cut my fingers tips on the metal braid showing through the tyre when i was taking them off the car :I

My sisters fiancee owns a company called turbo developments. They do all kinds of tuning (primarily on Imprezas), and Martin himself is very clued up. I've seen him strip a £20,000 impreza and put it all back together agina like it was a lego toy!

Anyway, I remember him saying that Wallace didnt have a bad reputation, but didnt have a good one either. I think they are pretty new to this game!

I would put you in touch with Martin but he is offshore at the moment. He will be back in two weeks however so I could put you in touch with him if you are still stuck then, even if it's just for a bit of advice.

No contact back from Wallace, so decided against them :disapprove:
However, having spoken to John he reminded me of one of last years cooper challenge racers, will be going to him when he gets back off his holidays.
The cooper challenge car also has the Spax set up, so, if he can't sort me car out no one can :approve:

Yeah, redpoints car has the spax setup (even though he rallys it its essentially a challenge car). Hope you get it sorted, I'll have to find someone to do mine in the new year

Got my car in to the suspension specialist today, the problem would appear to be that the front suspension is riding on the bump stops.
A well known fact in the Cooper Challenge Cars and the main reason why they are changing to Leda next year :evil:
So, the cure is to cut the bump stop in half and raise the settings all round to compensate.

I'll report back when the work is finished :)

Not sure if it affects all cars, i had asked the guy to set the car up for fast road use and also to stop the slight tyre rub when going over dips in the road

Ok, car is fixed :) the suspension was set up too low :I he didn't have to cut the bump stops in half as first suggested, i havn't seen or driven the car yet but he says it's sitting higher but can't compare it to a standard S
Maybe i won't hit so many speed humps now ;)

Just driven the car home, hmm, makes me wonder how i managed to drive it before, the car has been totally transformed and that's taking it relatively easily on twisty but wet roads :)

Leda have finished the build on the suspension for both cars booked in for the 24th & 25th January.:D
