I know there was an ipod thread somewhere all about connecting an ipod to your car headunit. However I can't find it and it is most likely out of date anyway.

Any hints or tips. I have the standard 2002 mini single cd player installed. Is it best to buy a new h.unit or can I use that one. Im not going for a huge install. Cant afford it.

Thanks,
Sleepy.:D

Sleepy,

We use an i-trip, cheap as chips and lets you listen to your i-pod anywhere there is a radio. Sure, it's not perfect, but it's so easy.

I think you can also connect your pod to the aux input connections at the back of the radio, but I'm not sure if there's any fancy interface or if it's just a phono - mini jack cable.

Not much help, but it's all I have!

Cheers!

I'd best remember to take it into work then ;)
John installed an iPod into a customer's car recently, i think it was the denison ice link, mikeythemini sells them also, looks the dogs danglies, you will need an aux input on your head unit :)

mmmm ive found plenty package deals for the alpine head unit, KCA-420i and ipod adaptor. starting around £311. There must be better prices out there. theres a new adaptor on ebay for 55 quid and I sippose I could pick up an Alpine head unit for cheap-ish online also.

Sleepy,

Try clicking here (http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?faq=faq_interior#faq_faq_aux_input)

Seems like there is a spesh cable from MINI that you need to use the aux input - can anyone confirm?

Must say though, I-trip £22 (or so) delivered and you dont need to rip your car to bits.

Cheers!

Joe,

I-tunes mate - the freebie that came with the I-pod - it's a doddle!

Even has the ability to create "smart" playlists from a given criteria (though I'm not sure if this is unique).

Cheers!
