Hi all,

With a change in job looming I’m going to need to get another car for travelling, likely a diesel to keep fuel costs down, the other half quite likes the countryman, any things to look out for with these ?

Countryman’s seem to be fairly bulletproof. Is it R60 or F60 your thinking of?

R60 I think, be around 2014

There’s not a lot that goes wrong with them and the engines seem to be very reliable.

Good to know, thanks William, I’m kinda leaning towards a hatch but we’ll see

Same engines anyway. A hatch is always good fun, but the Countryman gives lots of fun as well but being loads more practical

Oh I didn’t know they shared the same engines !
I think as SD would be ideal, no having never owned a diesel will it be a huge difference in economy ?

If it’s going to be a mile muncher for motorways etc then you will get better economy

Around 50 miles a day so not crazy miles I guess, way more than the 18 miles a day I currently do

I have a F56 Cooper D hatch absolutely love it. I can get about 500 miles to a tank. I tend to drive it in green mode. Doesn’t improve mileage by much but it’s better than nothing.

When I say same engine, I mean the same engine shared between the R series cars I don’t mean between the R and F series cars

Hmmm that sound like it would work, gives me a little more reason to go for the hatch

We’ve just parted with our F60 Cooper D. We had no issues at all in the 3 years that we had it and it was good on the fuel too.

Prices have come down a little so you might be able to find a used 2017 one at a decent price.

We get about 350 miles per tank in our R60, which is a petrol Cooper S. And that's mostly town miles. Motorway would be much better. I'd imagine the diesel would get you 500 or so.
