Barn doors locked

Mini one clubman 2010. Hasn't been used for weeks and outside in the cold weather. Battery was flat but now fixed. Only remaining problem is that the rear 'barn' doors are firmly locked shut - no reaction to anything - key fob, dashboard switch. No sound of locking or unlocking and no movement at all. Can anyone help?

Levers on both handles immovable - as though they're locked.

Correction: both handle levers move but nothing happens.

Short answer is no - but after a lot of key combinations with the fob, they'll now open with the tailgate button on the fob but not manually with the handles.

May need new handles then or further investigation into what’s stopped them from working
