Hi everyone, I brought this topic up on a MINI Facebook page recently and got a mixed response so I thought I would see if anyone on here knows anything. I put my MINI in for it’s service a couple of weeks ago and got advised that the Active Pedestrian Protection system is due to expire next month and I need to replace this before my next MOT and it would cost £300 😮 has anyone on here ever had to replace this? I’m trying to figure out if it is something that actually affects your MOT or your insurance.

My understanding is that it would only need to be replaced if it was involved in an accident where it had activated. You’ll fail an MOT for having warnings on your dash, you’d need to find out if it would bring a warning on the dash or not. What’s the reason they have given for it needing to be replaced? Has it became damaged in some way etc?

It’s not damaged no, they just told me they have an expiry date, no warnings either but they said it expires next month so I will keep an eye on that and see if anything comes up.

It’s certainly not something I’ve came across. Let us know if you find out anything else? There seems to be very little information about it

Strange one and never thought of problems with the system ,would have thought it would last until used then replaced, never heard of it coming up at MOT time

The car goes in for an MOT in July so I’ll just put it in and see if anything comes up, I’ll let you all know what happens.

just had my car MOT done today
asked inspector if he would check this
he said no as its not part of mot test
also another 2 inspectors recon that these are not fitted to all cars so would not be an issue
