Not posted for some time, but having reached the point where Mini will take back the car with no money changing hands I,ve been a bit of a rebel and today ordered a new one. (Subtle clue in the text)

Not so subtle then. Yep new clubby in rebel green with red, not many options, just privacy glass, adaptive suspension, and roof rails. Should be ready start of October ish.

Sounds nice - one of my favourite colour combinations at the moment. Looking forward to seeing some pics.

They have a shiny new rebel green JCW clubbie at Peter Vardys in Edinburgh, it’s stunning, however the dealership is awful! [emoji38]

Might have to pop down for a look.

It’s very nice! The other half wasn’t as enamoured but I liked it! [emoji16] (just don’t buy from there! [emoji6])

Does anyone know of a 'car bra' or bonnet protector for the f54?

Do you mean the black type usually installed on a VW of some description? Not as far as I’m aware. You could always get a Clear-Bra wrap or something similar.Yeah that type of thing, paranoid about stone chips in the dark paint. May have to look into ppf wrap.

Yeah people prefer insulated hunting boots (https://www.villagevoice.com/best-insulated-hunting-boots/) and that type of thing, paranoid about stone chips in the dark paint. May have to look into ppf wrap.

How badly can the damage get if you don't protect it?

If it’s stone chips could lead to say rust where the stone chips are, I believe Mini paint work is quite soft paint.

PPF is always a good way to go if it’s done right.

I’ve not had it myself but I would go with a good PPF, from what I’ve heard if it’s installed right you’ll never know it’s there

If it's a car you're planning on keeping long-term, just budget for a front-end refresh every couple of years or so. If you're only keeping the car for a couple of years, I wouldn't bother with PPF personally

I had a quote done to have just the bumper done on my last mini after fitting a freshly painted jcw bodykit and I was quoted £400 to have the bumper done in Xpel. So you really need to weigh up how much some stone chips are going to cost you because a front end replay is going to cost considerably less than having the bumper and bonnet wrapped in PPF. And there is the fact you need to have the car detailed before fitting the PPF which is an extra cost

Some helpful replies, thanks everyone. I'll do some more research into ppf pricing vs a respray every couple of years. Dont know if mini paint is softer or it is the shape of the front or a combination but definitely seem to get more marks than other cars I've had or seen. Thanks again.
