I currently have a 2014 Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost and looking to maybe trade this in for a newer model or different car completely, my wife has her heart set on a Mini about 2016/2018 used car might just be affordable for us engine size 1.6 or less, we're both in our 60s. Last mini I drove was in the 1960s. She is particularly fond of the Countryman, I'd rather have the cooper, so we might fight on that one.
I have a of questions maybe more later as I research more
1: Do the mini''s come with a spare wheel or the gunge stuff in a tin?
2: Any common problems to watch for when purchasing a Mini, any model.?
3: Her Indoors wants a automatic, is there a lot of difference in MPG these days with modern auto gearboxes and manuals ?
Many Thanks

Hi and welcome to NMS.
I can answer one question for you and that's the spare wheel question, which is as far as I am aware it's gunk in a compressor type box or it is in my Mini.
If your wife is intrested in a Countryman then you can get a Cooper Version of this.

Welcome along and you’re in good company here. The Fiesta Ecoboost is no slouch of a car that’s for sure but you’re making the right move to MINI lol.
There’s a couple of Countryman owners on here and I’m sure they’ll be able to assist you with any questions that you might have.
1. The majority of MINIs now come with the compressor and a tin of sealer. Probably not the best solution but they assume that it’ll do given most still have run flats fitted if you’re buying from a dealer.
2. With the current model there has been a few warranty issues but nothing major as far as I’ve read. The front bumper insert seems to fade a little but other than that you’re all good.
3. I’m not a big fan of having an auto as my own car but there’s plenty for sale. I’m sure anyone with an auto will assist answering your question but I’d expect it would depend on what type of driving you’re doing.
Good luck in your search ...

Thanks for the much useful info guys' it gives me more to go on and do a bit further research. I have seen some varying mpg reports on mini's which are well below the mpg I currently get with my fiesta. Is this common through the range of mini''s.
Engine size I would be looking for would be about 1.2L or lower.
My days of driving the car like it's stolen are well gone⛐

Think the base model Mini is a 1.5 Petrol, I could be wrong.

A 1.2 is the lowest that you can currently go down to.
