Dear All,

I have tried a search but can't find anything. I am looking for advice from anyone who has their Mini serviced independently in Edinburgh. I have an 18 month old Clubman Cooper S that is due it's first service. BMW want £273 for what seems to me to be an oil change and some visual checks..... is this a ridiculous price or am I being stingy!

They have told me that it's ok to have it serviced elsewhere but then told me that nobody else would be able to update the computer and wipe the service warning etc.....

Is there anyone out there that might know of an Edinburgh garage that they trust and is capable of doing what BMW say is impossible??

Thank you in advance for any answers.

Yours aye

MartinTotal rubbish about the servicing lights it takes about a minute all done with the trip computer.

Ignition on.
Flick along to set/reset
Hold down the buttone once on that screen
Wait 5seconds
You will get a picture of a mini
Scroll along to the service that needs reset
Hold again and a little timer will come up
Done

MINI wanted to charge me £35 to fill up the screenwash even though I told them that it would be completely full by the time it arrived at their site in Doncaster.
Needless to say that they were told where to go and I went to an independent MINI specialist instead...

Thank you. They said something about the service history being held on the key/computer, does this matter?

I will have a look at your instructions when I get home tonight.

Your key stores all.of the cars info at the dealer they have a little cradle they place the key on then all of the cars info pops up on the computer. The key info is updated everytime its plugged in

If you mean when it comes to resale time, as long as you've got a nice folder of invoices to show a buyer I wouldn't worry. Obviously dealers, We Buy Any Car and their ilk will use non-main dealer servicing as an excuse to offer you a lower trade-in price; despite IME independent servicing being of a higher standard

The F series of cars have an electronic service history as apposed the traditional style book that you stamp.
There are some independants that have paid up to BMW UK in order to have access to the on line electronic service history.
Resetting the service indicator can be done by anyone however.

I'm sure Wright Automotive near Loanhead has the BMW & MINI on line service history facility.

Try AM Autos in Prestonpans, just serviced my Mini and knows them quite well.

I got my service which again was a oil and fluid change for about £80.

I have the same problem - looking for independent service. Got into the menu to check if I could reset. I could reset brakes, oil etc but could not reset all but the inspection time. It said 'Reset not possible'. Any ideas? Is it still because it is 4000 miles from the service due mileage?

Thanks
