Really like the new Clubman

At least now the brake lights are where they should have been all along!! Just a shame it has the UJ lights but they look a little better than the ones on the hatch.

Cool car but that colour is awful. Looks like a red Vauxhall from the 90s has been left out in the sun all its life and then the paint reapplied to a MINI [emoji85]

Is the new Clubman JCW now an M135/140 with a different body? Be interesting to see the price difference

Smaller 4-pots are allegedly 'progress', although I personally disagree. A 330i should have a fabulous, smooth inline 6 IMO so I doubt we'll see a 6 in a 1er ever again.

The 1er has lost its USP for me of the inline 6 and RWD, although I doubt the majority will care

Love those back lights, wonder if they could be retrofitted to the F54 ?
Anyone know?

So I just went on to the mini configurator to build the new clubman and was taken back by the ludicrous price tag!!

I specc'd one up with what I think would be a necessity and... £40k!!!

If this is going to be the norm going forward for mini then I see a lot of people jumping ship. Unfortunately in such a competitive market it just doesn't make sense to buy a new mini anymore. There are far more cars with a lot more power, creature comforts and offer a similar driving experience for a lot less.

What did you put on it Jack?

What did you put on it Jack?I can't remember exactly, but it was stuff like adaptive suspension, sat nav, 19inch wheels (all stuff which is probably to be expected imo on a high performance/top line car)

You're not even protected (to a degree) by the residuals that you used to be with Mini. They're moore or less the same as other manufacturers these days, thanks to the sheer number of them.

For £40k you can get a 2 year old M4 with less than 10k miles on it. Completely different car, I agree; but an idea of what is available in that price range

I've just specd a clubby to a decent spec. Sunroof, tinted windows, metallic paint, HK stereo. Came to £38,005.

Just specd an A35 to the same spec and it came to nearly £42k so I would say the clubby is decent value and if you went standard against standard the clubby gets massively more equipment than the a35.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190904/bc21d7e58c9cf9b2b2f8a60fd57834f6.jpg

Golf R no pro nav. No performance pack. No adaptive suspension https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190904/a3fc3a4e5a07008ebb8de960a9aec1a6.jpg

Mercedes has the worst residual of all [emoji23]. Back when I owned one I had to wait until the very last month of my PCP before I broke even [emoji2357]

I think for me the best solution is to wait a year and pick up a clubby sub 30k when the hype has worn off and the dealers throw tons of contributions/offers on.

Whether I can hold off my itch to switch though is another question...

I just couldn't rationalise that amount of money on what is effectively a daily hatchback, those are mental prices IMO

Since buying my last car new, I said I won't ever do it again. Yeah the 3 year warranty and no mot is nice to have... I do all my servicing and fix my cars myself anyway so it's not an issue.

I'm surely not the only one that looks at these new "MINIS" that are playing on the word mini, when they on wheelbases equal to VW Golf, S3 and such. Next gen MINI will be size of M5.
Maybe I'm just jealous as I also can't justify spending 40k on a motor.

An interesting write-up in Autocar today about the JCW 300 Clubman against the new M135i and A35 AMG. Especially interesting seeing how it compares to the 1er considering they share so much of the same underneath.
