It's just been announced that John Peel has died. I've listened to him since I was in my early teens. A great loss and will be sorely missed by anyone with a love of real music....

....and Napalm Death

:( What a bummer.
I used to listen to him and 'Whispering Bob' when I worked night shift some years ago. He will be sadly missed :blackeye::disapprove:

Awww that's a bummer.

John Peel was a radio 1 dj for years. He was at the Glastonbury coverage on TV this year as well as the T in the park coverage. The older guy, bald with a beard.

NO WAY!! HE was a legend!! The longest serving radio one DJ ever. he was 65 and still appealed to the radio one audience! What a guy! Very sorry to hear that!

Not been a good year for my musical heroes! Joe Strummer, Johnny Ramone, Warren Zevon; at least they'll have a decent DJ to listen to on celestial Radio 1!

Will miss him very much - introduced me to to so many fabulous artists over the years.
Hope you are still getting "Teenage Kicks right through the night" John.

I only just heard on Radio 1 that he was the first man to ever play "I am the Walrus" on the radio! Can you imagine being the first person to ever play that fantastic track??? He'll be missed.

It's going to be a hard job finding someone to replace him. I was thinking - what about a John Peel commemorative MINI run ?

Like Rakey , I could get a picture of John Peel for the roof.....

Don't blame me! Wul gave me the idea in the "I AM B O R E D" thread! He practically dared me to do it!

Big Col - i'm sure going back to page 1 of the OT&B section would have been much much funnier :D
