So I spoke to my insurer (Admiral) about me fitting my after market wheels and they will only charge me admin fee (£20) so I'm happy there. But I'm going to be running slightly wider tyres. Do they also need to know this?
My stock wheels are 195/55/r16. I'm upgrading to 225/45r17. I've only told them about the alloys but not the tyres...

Might be worth telling them, did you mention alloys were 17inch?

DavyYep they know it's going up a size. Just didn't think to mention the tyre size because I thought as long as the tyre is compatible with the alloy it wouldn't matter.

Think you might get away with it, when I change to my 18’s just going tell them I am changing alloys and my new tyres will be like elastic bands.... potholes favourites.....
If in doubt just cover yourself, more than likely will be fine.
