8th January 2019, 08:45 PM
Knockhill are again hosting their MINI Mania show on Sunday 5th May.

We have always had a great turnout for the show but more importantly a great day out. Not got a start time yet but would imagine it would be a similar start time to the previous shows starting around 9:30ish.

Ill post more details as they become available. As always everyone is welcome to attend

Please follow this LINK (https://www.knockhill.com/events/SMRC-Mini-Show-May-2019) to register with Knockhill and to purchase tickets.

Weather will determine which car/cars I bring so I wont know until nearer the time.

If its dry I will bring the Classic and I could get Sarah to bring the JCW. If the roads aren't bone dry and clean then I might bring the pre production R50 and Sarah can still bring the JCW. Hamish will defo want to come too.

Ticket bought, just need a code I guess to register for the club.

MINI William
26th February 2019, 08:48 AM
Davy you’ll need show car as the club is already registered.

Its a stupid system that Knockhill use where you need to apply to be a NMS member on Knockhills site and after you have been approved you can then buy tickets. Total faff, it used to be a bad system before, it’s now horrendous

MINI William
26th February 2019, 09:04 AM
The only people added to NMS on knockhill’s website so far is Pete and Dave Tindal

It’s a bit stupid ‘cos the last few years it’s been dead easy to buy tickets.

To clarify you need to register on Knockhill’s website and then select NMS from the car club list. You will then be able to buy tickets for MINI Mania. Any questions or problems. Let me know

So I bought my ticket already, will I need to buy another one?

Right I have registered the car and with New Mini Scotland, I take it you just need to authorise William?

The site is horrendous on my mobile I could go and get another ticket but on the computer it was not allowing me to register for the event.

If I need to buy another ticket I will, can always see if Hannah or one of my mates wants to come.

I did that, then when I tried to get a ticket, it wouldn't select NMS from the club drop down list, so I just left it, as I thought maybe it would take time for it to be active after adding my name to NMS, but I will try it again tomorrow.

If I remember correctly from the last few years you have to give them the Make, Model & reg number of each car to be able to book tickets.

I've logged on with Knockhill and affiliated myself with NMS.

I added my cars to the 'my cars' section. Will purchase tickets as soon as I have confirmed what car/cars I am taking.

There could be a flaw in this though. I will probably be attending Knockhill on the 19th May with the FocusRSOC for the Ford Live day. I need to purchase tickets for that too and be on their stand with the RS. However, knockhill now thinks I am affiliated with NMS and obviously NMS wont be showing at a Ford day.
Knockhill don't have the option on their web site to be affiliated with more than one club.

I'm sure I wont be the only person that is going to run into difficulties with their new 'poor' system.

MINI William
7th March 2019, 10:10 AM
It is a very poor system Ian. I’ve already sent them a message with my concerns with how they now want us to book tickets etc. Just goes to show digital isn’t always better.

While I agree that the system isn't the best it does appear to allow you to have multiple cars and be a member of multiple clubs so they've got that part right. Its just that the front end of it needs to be a bit more thought out and flow smoother.

I imagine the whole approving folk as a member of NMS thing is proving to be a pain for William as well.

Absolutely gutted but Im having to pull out. Clutch went on the car tonight when I was on my way to Glasgow, AA were fab and it’s been taken up to Motortechnik in Kirkcaldy for them to look at it again. Must be something seriously wrong with that car, new clutch in 2017 then I put a new clutch and flywheel on it earlier this year. I’m really not a happy bunny and as I say gutted to have to pull out of Mini Mania!

Had a good day today, congratulations Pete for getting best non moded mini.

Was a bit of a shambles compared to last year. Here are some pics from being on track.

Great to see everyone today, cars all looked fantastic despite yesterday's weather. All the love and wishes from NMS folks was most appreciated. Got a bit tired in the end, but it was well worth it. Sorry the "Chuck Wagon" wasn't fully loaded as usual, but Mom's been a busy girl recently.....running after me...lol.
Nice pics Chloe, keep them coming everyone. Thanks again William, Brian and the team.

Thanks to everyone who came along today. It was a great despite the lack of organisation from Knockhill and have got to say that this was by far the worst year for getting things organised for this show from booking tickets to getting everyone parked together. But as always NMS members always make up for this with a smile and plenty of laughs throughout the day.

Well done to Pete and the the other winners today and also to MMS for best stand.

I’ll post up some pictures after my dinner

Firstly thank you to William for the organisation and to Christina & Brian for their generous hospitality and a huge thanks for all of you that were in attendance.
It was a real but welcomed surprise to see Malcolm and Siobhan there and it was great to chat to you both.
Thank you for all of your congratulations, that trophy was completely unexpected but it is very welcome.

It’s just my luck that I spend all week modding my car and win a trophy for a standard one.
lol
May be my mods need to stand out a bit more in future.
[emoji23]
Yeah, it did seem to a bit lacking from the organisers side of things if I’m honest.

Cracking pics William, thinking about it now it just seemed a bit of a farce re organisation but as you said it’s the members that make the day.

Well I spent two hours last night uploading the parade Video to My You Tube Channel.

Hope you enjoy now going to spend time today going through my photos.

Thanks to the NMS team.

Callum and me had a great day out, despite my best efforts in flattening the battery over Fri and Sat trying to get the Clubman clean. Callum absolutely
loved the parade lap, and just about filled the memory card on the camera, I've not had a chance to get through them yet.

William, thanks for the stickers, sorry I didn't get them on yesterday but I forgot my tape measure and spirit level so didn't want to risk it.

Always enjoy chatting (learnt some good stuff), and seeing the NMS cars in the flesh, good to get a few more Clubbys. The highlight for me was the WC50 (again) - sorry Malcolm I didn't get time
to properly introduce myself and get a proper look around it, but good to see yourselves and the car there.

Can I ask a couple of questions of those who attended:

Did anyone buy one of the programmes for the day’s racing? [trying to figure out if the MINI event or the presence of programmes on the gate drove higher than normal sales]

Did anyone venture around the track or through the paddock, away from the show area at the hairpin? General thoughts on what was to be seen if you did?

I didn't buy a programme....but I never do....lol
I walked through the paddock several times and wandered down to Butchers....but again I always do. I'm a season ticket holder so for me it was just another race weekend. Not much to see other than the usual stuff thats on a race weekend.

Wasn’t offered a programme at the gate.

Walked through paddocks and all the way around the track to get pictures.

Never bought a programme. Wasn’t offered one either.

Walked round the paddock and track. Not a lot to see. No stalls etc

Again, no programme offered when we came in, though this was perhaps because show cars were supposed to be in by 08.45 I think and we all arrived together?

I wandered around through the paddock, saw nothing in terms of anything of note. I did buy an egg and bacon butty at the cafe, though.

Wasn't aware there were programs available.

Always have a wander through the paddock, I like how accessible it is to have a look around, having said that we always go to cars of the people we know. Didn't get around the track this time, thanks largely to a lazy teenage son.
