Scottish Car Show 15th July 2018

[MINI William]

The Scottish Car Show is back again for another year and has been changed back to a one day show.

NMS will be attending the show being held at the Royal Highland Centre again and we will be having our usual BBQ (Goes without saying really).

It will be £12 per car and driver and £12 for passengers up until early booking comes to a close in April. Can I ask that everyone has their money to me by Sunday 15th April *PLEASE NOTE THAT MONEY IN NONREFUNDABLE*. This will then allow me to book in plenty time and ensure that we have a good pitch and also get in for the lower price.

As always everyone is welcome, if you haven't been to a show with NMS get along to this as its local and catch the show bug. Its not just about the cars but about the day as a whole.

After receiving the tickets and details today from the organisers there will be a change in our normal meeting time for SCS. Entry time has been changed from previous years by show organisers. We are going to meet at 0700 to leave at 0715 SHARP at the Gyle Shopping Centre at the Morrisons car park.

The same as previous years the stand needs to enter together so please be there on time as failing to be there on time will result in you not being able to join the club stand.

That's me and Nigel home safe and sound.

Even though the show was a bit of a let down this year being in the company of everyone more than made up for it massive thank you to mum for all of the lovely food, and all of the other contributions to the picnic. All the minis looked fantastic as always.

I'm absolutely nackard so I'm away to stuff my face with burritos have a bath and then off to bed.

Well Beth and I had a lovely day today. It was so nice seeing everyone and Beth loved meeting you all, although I think she did miss Davy, as did I and I think a few others... albeit it meant you all got more cake than usual lol. Sioban, don’t you worry, Davy’s body weight in cake awaits him in the kitchen lol, I won’t eat it!! [emoji23]
I know what Ali means about the cars revving up etc, it was really annoying and unnecessary.
However the NMS family bond was as strong as always and on the whole it was a fab day. I haven’t broke the news to Davy yet how close the ice cream van was to our stand but he will see it from the photos.. Also, David I took one for the team and had a vanilla ice cream on your behalf! It was tough but someone had to do it lol [emoji23]
Lastly Happy Birthday again to Chloe and Eddie - the cake was delicious!

Really enjoyed yesterday despite the early start!! Agree with Ali's comments but the SCS is what it is, "warts and all". NMS had a great time and that's what matters.
Didn't take a lot of photo's but had to post this one.

For me, I certainly wouldn't be sad if we missed SCS next year. The show and the Scottish car scene in general seem to have hit rock bottom in the past few years. I also heard that a few of the awards went to trucks, isn't that what truckfest is for?

The NMS Stand was up to its now customary very high standard and all the cars looked stunning.

I for one would not miss The SCS if NMS decided not to attend it again.
It just seems it’s degenerated into a NED’s day out with the lower IQ attendees just having “willy battles” with their exhaust sound offs.
I personally find it very amateurish of the organisers to not eject the idiots ruining the day for others.
I know that a lot of folk love this moronic behaviour but for me they can always meet up in an ALDI car park any night of the week to knacker their engines and not do it at a show.
I never even ventured for a wander this year and only left the stand for a “call of nature”.
The accidents before, and after, the show just prove that there’s no point in spending £1000’s modding your car if can not ultimately drive the bloody thing.

I would just like to add that the food this year was just mental. It was like being at an all you can eat buffet where the more you ate, the more food just seemed to appear from another bag, box or cooler.
Megan as now progressed to a full blown force feeder and the bag of cake is still being munched on as I type.
Christina & Mom, you have trained her well.

Haha Pete! Yes my force feeding is coming on well! As always great to see everyone and I have emailed the organisers and police Scotland about the behaviour and attitude of the event team at SCS. I for one found it unacceptable the amount of people ‘smoking’ and then driving. I left with a very sore head and felt dizzy, not what you would expect from a show family’s attend.

Other than that I’m still full!!!

Was at the show too with my Civic Aerodeck (wasn't on a stand though, just slumming it in the car park!). Saw all the Minis and then realised it was you guys!!!! Said to my Mrs Gayle "that's the club I'm in with Carly" (my R56 cooper). She was like "so you could have had her on a stand ya numpty! Lol That was bad enough, but further round the site, we saw a bloody civic Aerodeck on a stand!! Don't think she's called me a numpty twice in one day before!!!

Had a good look round the stand guys, all your Minis looking superb. Wanted to come over and say hello but don't know anyone yet and didn't want to look like a stalker! Lol only know William, but can't remember what he looks like!

We saw a lot of really great cars that were on our wish list. Have to agree with Ali, the tossers/neds revving the engines did our nut in. Deffo no need for it. It even started happening in the main hall, so was really loud. We eventually gifted up with the revving/constant backfires so called it a day and went home. I thought I was just imagining it smelling the wacky baccy! Was blooming everywhere!

Will need to get to some nms meets so we can get to know you all!

That's the one! Had a number plate on the dash with Aimee on it. Impressive that she's done all that herself, did look sweet. Wish I'd taken some Civic5 flyers with me as I don't think she's in our club, although have deffo seen her deck in the club in the past.
