Scottish Car Show 16th July 2017

I have been contacted today by the organisers of SCS to confirm plans for SCS this year.
We are able to attend just on the Sunday http://newminiscotland.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif Tickets are £15 Per Driver and £20 Per Passenger and the cut off for this will be Sunday 7th May.

Money can be paid to me at a meet or PM me for other payment details. All money is NONREFUNDABLE.

Like Davy says would be good to find out from them what the arrangements would be if doing 2 days, not sure about anybody else but I don't fancy leaving my car in the showground overnight.

All details will be given to club organisers in January. So at this point I'm sure as to what will happen. As it's outdoors I assume cars will be able to be taken away but nothing has been confirmed

It does seem like a strange idea to have a two day show without a track being involved.
I could see the point if there was racing to watch as well, be it professional racing or customer racing i.e. BTCC or a TRAX style event, and I can't personally see the point in it unless there will be a load of extra entertainment for folk to watch or get involved in. I have loved The S.C.S. for the last two years but I do think a two day show wouldn't be as impressive without a lot of extras added to make it worth while and interesting for a full weekend.

I'm hoping that a 1 day show pitch option is available as I don't think a 2 day event suits and I would imagine this would be the same for most other car clubs as well

This has been a great show, one that I've been to every year since joining NMS. It's the combination of cars, people, food, BBQ and laughs that make it what it is, we always have a fab time and it would be a real shame to miss out this year.

After receiving the tickets and details yesterday from the organisers there will be a bit of a change to our normal SCS. Entry time has been changed from previous years. We are going to meet at 0730 to leave at 0745 SHARP at the Gyle Shopping Centre at the Morrisons car park.

The same as previous years the stand needs to enter together so please be there on time as failing to be there on time will result in you not being able to join the club stand.

Well another SCS done and dusted and it was great to see the stand getting its usual attention by the visitors. The stand was a credit to each and every member that attended and the cars as always were outstanding.
Firstly a special thanks to William for persisting with the stand for the show despite the initial low uptake in members wanting to go. Although the stand was smaller than last year it was certainly just as good and it also meant we all had a chance to speak to each other throughout the whole day.
Secondly and most importantly a massive thanks to everyone that attended. Without you making the effort the club would not be what it is.
I know it's not always easy to find a spare day or even hour sometimes but NMS appreciate you're efforts. There was even another surprise visit from Pete who even surprised himself this time making a late trip north to join us today.
Good to get a quick chat with Emma who popped along to the stand to catch up with the gang.
Eddies car in the main hall was looking better than ever and I hope you kept in with the "boys in blue" who had clearly been positioned to keep an eye on you !!
Got to say that Mark and Kyle's car were looking outstanding today ... and it was great to see that Ashleigh had been working on her detailing skills with those white wheels actually looking white (keep up the great work).
I'll pop a few photos that I took today but as always I spent too much time talking rather than snapping ...
if you've never popped along to a show or meet please feel free to do so. It's a great chance to meet and chat to other members and if nothing else put a name to a face. Until next time ... stay on that MINI adventure !

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to this years SCS. Sadly the show was a bit quieter for both the event itself and NMS, with less spectators and cars in attendance. However this didn't us off having a great looking stand, with one of the best pitches we have had in years. Everyone's cars where a credit to NMS and I really appreciate everyone's hard work and effort for attending the show and getting the cars looking so great.

Ill get some photos up tonight when I get home and also try and get someone else to host the pictures as Photobucket have changed their setup

Slight tangent here - I know they were there, so does anyone from the BMW Owners Club come across and try and recruit MINI owners at a show like this? The reason I ask is that I know the BMW OC is looking to recruit more MINI owners, and potentially set up a separate (officially approved by BMW/MINI) Mini OC

Firstly thank you to William for the organisation and another huge thank you to Christina and Brian for their endless hospitality.

I wasn't attending this years SCS until 20:00 on Saturday night. A message from Christina led to a very early start for me.

Alarm set for 02:15 was quickly followed by me checking all of the camera gear, throwing it in the back of 1499 and then shooting up the road at 03:10 prompt.
It was the best run up the A1 I've ever had. I only had to slow up for other vehicles twice, which were both farm vehicles, on the single carriageway section of the A1 near Lindisfarne.
I arrived at the Morrisons car park and wondered if I was in the correct place due to me being the only one there.
Mark turned up about 10 minutes later to confirm that I was in the correct place.

It's strange how the two folk with the longest journeys were the first two there.

Most of the others arrived shortly after and then we were away.
The look on Davy's face when he saw me in the convoy was hysterical. I'm no good at lip reading but I'm not too sure that what he murmured is fit for a family forum.

Queuing up to enter the show the lanes split into two so I jumped to the left and ended up next to Chloe and Stuart. The high pitched shout of "Pete !!" was funny but I'm still no wiser as to if it was Chloe or Stuart.

Cat then spied me in the queue and had a similar look on her face that Davy had a few minutes earlier. I don't think she swore though.

We all parked up on the stand and endured the usual "parking-attendants-on-smack" routine which must look like chaos to other folk but always ends up with the stand looking awesome.

The obligatory cleaning frenzy ensued and every single car looked stunning by the time the public were allowed into the show.
You should all be very proud of yourselves the cars were yet again immaculate.

The smaller amount of folk on the stand made it easier for us to all catch up with each other but those who were not there were sorely missed.
As usual it all passed way too quickly and we were packing up after what seemed like only a couple of hours.
The weather was great and the company even better.
I then headed to The NMS Ranch to see Christina. The offer of a drink, which ended up being a Bulmers, sealed the deal for me to spend the night.

We ended up having a gorgeous BBQ, cooked to perfection by Brian, on his new BBQ which I think was actually made from a converted shipping container.
