Hi,
Just a quickie about my trip down to the above race in Angouleme in Charentes, France.
I'm down here with Dave Brownz in our R53 GPs, having got the 23.15 ferry from Portsmouth to Le Havre on Thursday evening, arriving 08.30 Friday morning.
It's about 400 miles from Le Havre to Angouleme and it was chucking it down petty much all the way down. [emoji853]
We took the Autoroute down to Le Mans and then detoured off to find a restaurant that Dave knows for some lunch.
He's been to this event a couple of times before and he knows where he's going!
The rest of the trip to was on smaller roads following slow trucks until we blasted past and there was the odd bit of dual carriageway.
Once in Angouleme at around 5pm it was necessary to pick up the tickets for entry to the grandstands for Sunday's racing around the circuit that comprises sections of public road closed off for the event.

Then to hotel, park up and beer/food![emoji4]
Saturday was a blast through some back roads which were blissfully empty to look for a restaurant from which to view the International Rally of Charentes, where people enter their cars to follow a course out from Angouleme and then back again, which takes most of the day.
The routes are posted up on the website so you can choose where to stop and watch 200+ cars go by.
After lunch we went for a blast to Jarnac and Cognac to the east of Angouleme.
Jarnac = nice, picturesque.
Cognac = grotty.
Still, we can say that we've been to both.
Last night was beers/food again in the old town and taxi back at 3am...I'm getting too old for this![emoji15][emoji6]
I'm typing this as I wait for Brownz to get downstairs so we can get to the old town circuit for lunch and to watch the racing!
A few pics so far:

I also hit 70k miles on the way down!

EDITED/UPDATE

A few pics of the days racing set in the town centre, 1.2km circuit along side streets and around hairpins up/downhill.
We'd booked seats in the Fangio Stand on one of the hairpins so could get a great view of the cars coming up the hill towards us, then powering round the bend (not all of them failed to hit the wall!) and up the hill away from us to the next bend.

Brilliant guys and looks like it's a great trip especially given the write up. It's always good to have Brownz in charge as he knows what he's doing for most of these runs. It'd be good to pop along too one day for a nose. Sounds like a lot of fun ...

Thanks all, I just wanted to give you a flavour of the place and the goings-on.
It's a long way for you guys even before getting to the ferry, but I plan on going next year too!
I did forget to mention the "Concours" event on the Friday night in the main square, where selected cars get shown on a small stage,
All good stuff![emoji4]

Ha ha yes indeedy!
Dave's been three years on the bounce now, so he knows what the form is and where to go.
The hotel on the outskirts works too, taxi in the evenings and back, parking there too, which is at a premium in the centre!
Also nice that it's at the end of the season too, brats back at school etc!

Great write up and looks like a great event. I have to confess, I'd never even heard of it until now but looks good!

Thanks.
There's loads more pics but they're such a chore to upload via Tapatalk that I mainly use for Forums that I daren't add any more in case my post crashes!
Seems very popular with Brits, as there were more here than any other nationality after the French.
Brownz will post better pics up I'm sure, as mine are just iPhone clicks, he'd proper long lenses etal. [emoji4]
