View Full Version : Hiding cable

Yesterday I fitted my dash cam.
Ive hidden all the cabling apart from the one area that is now really unsightly.

The cable has gone from the cigarette lighter, behind the centre console, under the passenger footwell, then clipped up the door runner seal towards the dash, it then runs up the side of the dash up along the airbag where its clipped in again at the top of the windscreen, and along to where the cam is in front of the rear view mirror.
The tape that I put in place is not strong enough but it would still not look the best.

Any other ideas? I may be wrong but I dont think I can clip it into where the airbag is.

thanks

Is it not possible to run it down the other side of the pillar and hide it behind the rubber seal instead ?http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160906/e1d384af3985f4aefa5bda7009cb60e3.jpg

Apologies for the crappy pic but I can't go out to look at mine to see it it'll work due to it being barricaded in the garage at the mo.

That's what I would suggest. Run it up and along the rubber seal and then along the front of the headliner.

Like the others have said all my dash camera wiring is hidden in the same way others have mentioned. Run it up the door rubber then up the side of the A pillar and tuck it under the head lining remembering to leave enough cable unexposed to plug the camera in. The advantage that I have is that I can unplug the dash cam and use the VIRB with the same cable so it works two fold for me. I can send some photos of the cable but you don't see anything ... Except where the cable is exposed behind the rear view mirror.

The dash cams in my 3 Coopers are all hard wired and no cables are visible and I run the wires from the fuse box to a 12v power supply under the dash then the dash camera wire runs under the A pillar to the headliner to the center of the windscreen where the camera is located then the little bit of wire pokes out to make the final connection. The A pillar trims simply pop off and the job looks much neater. By hardwiring the camera it allows my cars 12v power supply to be free for charging my phone or sat nav etc
