Can a standard Cooper S R53 1.6 supercharged be re-mapped for any power gains?
Thinking of one for a track car.

Not really.
You need physical mods on an R53 before you'll gain any benefit from re-mapping.

Simple remap will gain you power but worth it no as pete said much better off pulley and and good system and you will get a bit more.
After that your looking at cams, injectors and a remap.
I can say after doing all tha above its great fun to drive but would defo look at upgrading the springs and struts as Ali said have a look at my build thread

Unlike a turbo car, a remap should be the last thing to do on an R53 - it ties all the other mods together, smooths out the torque curve, but doesn't really give you more power

You don't need a remap or injectors to gain power ...
My R53 runs 226 without a manifold, injectors or re-map.
It's all about choosing your mods wisely and you'll be fine.

This is true.
but if you want more power then these things are important as well all depends on what your looking for.
I know with mine my fulling is spot on with the bigger injectors and get a better MPG out the car when just running around it also depends on what Camshaft you go for thats if you go for a camshaft.

Exhaust, reduced pulley, crankshaft pulley, intercooler and airbox ... It's not the quickest MINI about but it does the job and it's reliable

You forgot to mention your cleaning chemicals that help drop its drag factor to 0.0002.

Many thanks for all your helpful replies. Just need to find a good donor car at the right price. There is a very nice one for sale just now but out of my cash price range and it would be impolite and crass to offer less.
