Hi guys,
I've got the chance of getting a relatively cheap liquid yellow 2002 mini one. Ive driven the car and it drives really well and gearbox hasnt gone stiff like ive found in some of the older 1st gens. Just wondered if there were any major weak points on the 1st gen ones. I plan on getting the car for comuting back and fore to university. Trying to keep the miles off my r56 S. All advice appreciated.
Thanks Mark

Steering column, steering rack & (especially) the power steering pump are issues to look out for on the R50.

Pretty sure the pump is on its way out is that expensive replacement? Whines a lot even with small steering inputs. Doesnt get light or heavy at any point though.

Noticed that with the first gens reverse is a nightmare. This car isnt as bad as some ive driven though. This one has had a recent caliper replacement.
