I guess it kinda falls under here.

Just returned from a wee jaunt on holiday with the family. It was our first mammoth trip loading up the Skoda Superb Estate and it coped so well, didn't miss a beat and swallowed everything we needed for the week with room to spare including a suitcase, holdall and Jessica's bike. The most surprising thing, was the fuel consumption it returned. We did just under 600 miles (588 to be precise) on one tank and only once we turned into the street did the fuel light come on telling us we "only had" another 70 miles left in the tank. Stunned! 600 miles + from a 1.4tsi driving consistently at 75mph on the duelers and motorway.

Brilliant Neil - the Yeti is returning north of 50mpg on my 7.5 commute each day which is a significant improvement on my Countryman D

In the 2.2 DCTi Insignia I only get 48-50 mpg on the daily commute but on a steady cruise it will push 56-58.
When using 1499 for the commute it averages at about 34mpg (this is from 3 days last week and today).....

....but I once got 46mpg when doing a Grandad Run on the 26 mile commute home !!!
On a hoon I normally get 24-27 mpg out of 1499 believe it or not.

Was that 75 miles from one tank of fuel...ragging it? :hand:

I think the Mini turbo and supercharged engines have always been pretty good. Long runs tend to be quite good MPG yet stick your foot down and point it towards some twisties and you'll still have fun! The Countryman Cooper we had fared worse than the R56 Cooper S's as you had to really give it some to make swift progress.

Indeed. It was what we were thinking of originally but due to me being oversized and children's car seats being even bigger, it didn't offer us much more room than the CM. However, I still think they are a brilliant car and would definitely get one if space inside wasn't the issue. I hear you can land a helicopter on them :thumbs up:

We only bought the Insignia as the Yeti's were a tad too expensive at the time for the desired 4x4 fully specced version we wanted.

I'd buy one tomorrow if the funds allowed though.

Not a Mini but in my Celica TS I have the CCUK record of 501 miles to a tank but my worst was 135 miles to the tank. On the track I average 11 mpg.

Given the weight in the car that is pretty awesome!

I spend all of the French Autoroutes in ECO mode and cruise control set at 130 kph but the Alps and Italy in Sports+.
It's an impressive engine and gear box for this model.
