Just noticed emulsification under the oil cap of the Mrs cap. oil on dipstick is clear but it has used a bit of water . Car has been checked by the supplying garage who conveniently can't find a fault with head gasket etc and are saying maybe due to short journeys etc . Mrs does a few short journeys but the car also gets a decent run once or twice a week any advice would be appreciated

You could have a compression test done or buy a block tester to see if exhaust gases are transferred into the coolant.

If the car's only used for short runs then it's possible for some 'gunk' to appear. Strange that yours gets a decent run & still has it. How much is there?

It's good that your dipstick oil looks fresh, but not so good that it's using water...how regularly & how much do you top up??

She's only had the car a month and this is the first week that the water has dropped. Probably about a pint and a bit of water but just seems a bit of a coincidence that the waters dropped and at the same time the mayo under the oil cap has appeared. Picked it back up tonight but Going to take it to be checked tomorrow .....

Hi there. Check the oil breather hose. If this is clogged, damaged etc then oil vapour has nowhere to go. Had this issue with a previous car.
