I'd be interested in this just to get a benchmark on what's actually happening under the bonnet, but would need to know the times so I could arrange things at home for my Dad. Morning or afternoon etc?

Seeing as this is a week today, is there an update on Times etc? If there are only two or three cars confirmed, will it be cancelled/postponed?

Not sure Euan as Chris is organising this. Bit surprised nobody else on NMS wants a power run on the Dyno ?!?!?

I thought there would have been more takers Craig, although I know some folks aren't too keen on Rolling Roads for fear of damaging their pride and joy. But if done properly it shouldn't be too much of a risk in my opinion and Chris wouldn't go somewhere which wasn't professional. I'm just interested to see what difference my mods and the remap have made.
I haven't had a Mini on the rollers since my '03 R53 (pre-JCW/GRS etc etc upgrades), and it made around 175 flywheel BHP. I think I might have had the Playmini manifold and sytem on it. That was at a Mini Clan dyno day and it was pipped by a lovely Honda V-tec Mini which did around 177BHP. Although they did do about five runs with tweaking to to my one run to get there... surely not to make sure one of those awful BMW New Minis wouldn't have highest BHP of the day...??? Hmmm. The Good Old Days eh?
More folks coming on board now :thumbs up:

Point taken. I must have been mean to everybody over the Christmas period! Seriously though, one of the few 'bonuses' of a tiny family (just Dad and I) and a small circle of close friends is that Christmas doesn't cost me the earth - only a continent or two... But I understand where you're coming from.

Unfortunately I'm still dependant on times for this, all revolves around when Dad's care workers are in. Afternoon would suit me best, cos then I can get his lunch sorted before I leave!
William, if you are coming over, could you maybe bring my Catch Cans? Even if I can't make it you could maybe give them to Andrew and I can collect them from him. No probs if you're not going.

I sent Andrew a wee message earlier just to update him with the current number and if he would prefer us in the morning or afternoon. Will hopefully hear back from him in the morning. I'm hoping for afternoon.
I'm willing to open this up to all cars to help get the numbers up if thats ok with everyone else?

Certainly a different day for NMS as at time it was spent either shouting or covering our ears. It was good to get a catch up and obviously see how the wee buggies were performing. I now went along for a look but decided to see how well/badly the R53 was going given the fact that it was thrown together in a race to get it ready for the HBT last year. Pleasantly surprised with the figures considering I've not even remapped the car merely changed a coupe of bits and it's 12 years old ...
A few photos from the day and Euan the Elf mobile was looking stunning today maybe had I cleaned it I might have got an extra couple of bhp. Must get some more of those 5bhp stickers lol ....

Nice pictures Davy :thumbs up:
Great to see everybody today, old and new faces and very interesting to see the cars on the rollers, all the Minis seemed to be going well and though I was a bit late getting there and missed most of the Mini action, (Davy's R53 sounded nice and went well), it was worth the trip to confirm the Elfmobile's in better shape than its owner ;-) Not sure about the 'etiquette' of these things as to whether it's the done thing to quote figures as nobody's telling so far, suffice to say I thought my car was running well and the numbers have backed that up.
Thanks to Chris for organising the session (not to mention the remap) and to the guys at Moorfield Motors/AG Motorsport Ltd for taking care of the cars and finally a special mention to 'Big Al' for some good banter and a totally excellent mug of tea!
Sorry I couldn't stay for the food and a further blether, but it was still an enjoyable day out. I only got lost twice on the way there (after I got to Kilmarnock), but that's just par for my course!

Great day out again and it's always interesting to see what sort of numbers people are making even though for me it's more about how the car drives than the numbers it makes. Although I do like a nice graph :thumbs up:
I'll upload my graph in a bit, but I'm showing 187.7 HP at the fly and roughly 205 ft lb torque :thumbs up:
Only took a few photos and I'm still waiting on my phone uploading most of them, but heres a few so far.

I totally agree with Andrew, it's all about how your car feels (and more importantly makes you feel) on the road rather than reducing it to numbers. You could have 300BHP and the car could be an absolute pig to drive, whereas you could have 150BHP and have a well balanced car which can put the power down in all conditions, and we all know which one we'd rather be in on a damp twisty road... Having said that, it's interesting to use the dyno to see how and where your hard-earned mods have altered/improved your output, so from that point of view it's arguably a worthwhile exercise.
I feel as if I've finally hit that 'sweet spot' with my car now with the new Michelins and the remap. It just feels 'together' with more than enough power for my innate lack of talent, and with the mods all complimenting each other. To be honest it's probably the best car I've ever had as a complete package. I won't be regressing to my Boy Racer days though, the old nerves just couldn't take it these days!
I don't know what my car was producing when it left Oxford in 2008, supposedly 170BHP or thereabouts, but rumour has it that the standard (non Works) R56 was producing 190-ish, depending on the Dyno you were on. My figures today were 230.1BHP (it's that vital point one that makes all the difference) and 260ft/lbs torque, which means my old 'Seatofthepantsometer' is still working, as I really could feel it on the road.
When I first got the car, it felt fine, but now, after about seven years of footering around with it, it's so much nicer to drive, for instance the power hangs on in there much longer than it did when standard (it used to feel fairly quick but it was done and dusted by 5,500rpm...), and couple that to the brakes, suspension, tyres and seats etc and it all adds up to a better overall driving experience. Any more power/torque and that vital 'balance' would go out the window, and probably into the nearest hedge, so "Th... Th... Th... That's All Folks!" The Elfmobile is finally finished - and yes, you CAN quote me on that. Here's the graph, you can't beat a nice graph. Is it technically an "Auto-Graph"?

You always feel the worse may happen and then it's the relief when everything goes well. I'm not a big fan of RR days but it's nice to check the car every now and then ... especially like Brian says when it gives you a base for maybe things to come.
