Newbie from West Lothian

Hi all,

Just bought my first Mini! Gone for a deep silver R53 MCS. Far from my first car though! Been a french car fan for years and probably always will be but decided its time to try some of the other cars I've always wanted to.

I've had my ph1 172 for about 7 years now I think

So a few plans straight away are to lose the stripes and mirror covers, repaint the calipers silver and do something about the wheels. They've just been refurbed and from the look I had tonight are in great nick, I just don't like them in black! It'll also get the back seats removed pretty soon after getting it home (clio has been a 2 seater for about 5 years!). I'll probably go down the handling and stopping route first with a whiteline rear arb being high up my list after loving it on the clio.

Things I know about it at the moment are its got xenons, climate, full leather, new clutch, new oil seals, chain, pulley belt, fsh and a minidisc player! I'll have to go to my Mums and see if all of mine are still there!

Still not actually using it so not wanting to start a project thread until it is one but I saw it again today when I visited my Gran (for no other reason than to see her obviously.....)

And just happened to take the stripes off, with no tools with me or even the keys my choices were limited! Personally think it looks loads better without them

Oh well, it would've happened at some point anyway!

When I get it home I'll get some tar remover on it and run the DA over it and get rid of the marks left.

Welcome along John and looks like you'll fit in here. Good to see the cars not even cold and you've already started work on it ... Def right to lose the stripes it gives it a cleaner look that's for sure.
Looks like it's had someone play with it already with the aero grille fitted to the bonnet and bumper [emoji106]. Who'd have thought that you'd find a car these days with a mini disc player in it !
I'd lose the chequered wing mirrors too and maybe go body or roof colour (I wonder why) ..
Ah the dreaded hidden treasures ... I think that's happened to us all that have removed stripes over the years !
I look forward to seeing what you get up to with it and keep your eye out for meets n events it'll give you a chance to have a look over other members cars and maybe give you a few ideas [emoji106]

Wanted post for new mirrors already submitted! OEM+ has always been more my thing. The clio doesn't normally have gold williams wheels on it either, just the standard F1s.

Aye thanks for that. As soon as I read it I remembered having seen the stand at the Scottish car show so joined up, good website, pretty busy for a small demographic as well!
