View Full Version : Engine fault

Got the car in June from Stratstone Mini from Hull, and in the past few days in the mornings going to work, I'm greeted with the following message on the computer :

"Engine fault - Full engine power no longer available. Possible to continue journey. Drive moderately. Have the problem checked by the nearest MINI service"

It only lasts for that journey, and throughout the day using the car it wont appear again. Seems to only happen the odd morning within the past week.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Certainly seems a strange one ,have you a code reader that you could use ,if not Iam sure one of members would have one you could use (if the code was stored)

As above, see what the code is and take it from there

and if that wasnt enough, today it decided to add something else to the mix :

Well that's not looking good ,had the first message on my M3 and that was the fuel pump module ,but the second one looks like it will have to go to some one with diagnostics Is the car still under warranty or not ,if it's not try NMS sponsor B&M (Douglas) his details are on the main page at the sponsor part

Not looking good and had I been in you could've popped over and I'd have popped the machine on it ... If you don't get it sorted over next couple of days I'll be about between Christmas and new year if that's any good.

Well I have an update............

The fault was still on, on Wednesday morning, and I thought about it all day. When I got back from work to the car at the station the fault was still on, so no longer just intermittent.
Called Mini as soon as I got to mum and dads house, they referred me to Mini Breakdown......within an hr they had a guy out to give her the once over and hook her up to his diagnostic to find "Fuel rail system pressure too low".
Recommended recovering the vehicle.

Asked me where I wanted the car taken to, so I naturally requested he take the car to Menzies Mini Stirling.
Put her on his truck and off she went into the night.

Enterprise arranged a courtesy car for me within another hour and by 9.30pm there was an Astra delivered.
Uusually its for 2 business days but with it being xmas its up until the 29th and if I need it longer just to let them know.

Menzies left me a voicemail on Thurs telling me they wont be able to get back to me with a report until Tuesday 29th.
Fingers crossed now.

Just thinking......if I got the car in June this year, could this issue have been with the car ever since and as a result I've not really experienced the proper S experience yet?

outstanding service from mini

Absolutely, didnt expect it all to happen on that one night, especially after finishing work at 6pm and thinking it would be at least another day or two.

Now come on Menzies Stirling, fix my little baby!!! :)
