My friend is fitting some Cobra front seats in his Clubby and someone has told him that there is some wee gadget to enable the air bag lights to be switched off as the new seats don't have any bags,so as not to be lit on the dash. Just wondered if anyone had any knowledge of this?
cheers Paul

I know that people have done it with R53s but never heard of it with R55. It was just a resistor

Found this on web
You can get them from MINI (for the JCW seats).
Seat airbag bypass resistor:
61310415752 (tel:61310415752) - Resistor/ sidebag (Qty: 2)
No.2 in this diagram:
RealOEM.com BMW R53 Coop.S JCW GP Sports seat John Cooper Works (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=RE91&mospid=51242&btnr=52_3052&hg=52&fg=95&hl=5)

I,m told you can also use standard components: the resistors you need for the seats are 4 ohm 0.25 watt resistors. You need 2 of them. You can just stick them in/across the two connector yellow holes to bridge the gap and tape them in place.

You will need to have the airbag light reset after fitting the resistors or buy a suitable diy reset tool.
