View Full Version : R53 JCW 210 - What ECU tune?

I'm just upgrading my 200 JCW to the 210 spec (well almost, Orranje airbox and OEM blue 380cc injectors).
There seems a huge amount of often conflicting advice on which tune the car should have to run at its best, stock R53, 200 JCW, 210 JCW and custom. The custom choice then varies hugely too.
What do people recommend please for a basically stock 210 JCW?
Thanks

Custom [emoji106]🏻
It's not a stock R53, it's not a 200 JCW, it's not a 210 JCW (believe they ran a different head). Map the car for what it is rather than whacking on a best fit out a selection of what it isn't.

I would say custom you will need a map after fitting the injectors or it will over fule

John ... I'd agree with the others too. A custom map will give you the best set up for all the mods you have on the car. Not sure if fitting the bigger injectors will hinder or assist your quest for better power but can't wait to see the results as I may do likewise ...

Standard injectors would probably be OK, but 380s will give a better safety margin.

Thanks guys, who / where maps locally. I know 1320 are well thought of, but anyone closer?

As others have said custom map. Means the car is mapped to your mods and requirements. Why not try Knox Performance our club sponsor

My mate just had his track R53 done at PerformanceTek. It already had a GT Tuning kit when he got it, but bizarrely, no map. He'd added a Miltek and manifold with sports cat. Got a catcam dropped in with 550cc injectors and mapped.

Just looked at Performance Tek's FB page, the BRG R53 shows great results, with clearly a big spec engine, but great figures all the same.

The engines not really big spec tbh. The car already had an air intake, bigger tmic and pulley. He junked the shoddy single box exhaust for a Miltek and put a sports cat manifold on it. It got mapped after the cam and injectors went in, the before and after aren't entirely representative because it turns out the standard cam was severely worn on 2 of the lobes.
He's talking about getting a ported head next, that will be interesting.
