JCW skirts......and clips

Got my much wanted JCW skirts at the weekend so now looking for the clips, minigenuineparts have normal clips, then they have screw clips ......basically a few choices of clips......which ones do I go for......and how many?

My brain hurts :confused:

I can only assume that you didn't buy the side skirts new because they usually come with packet of clips for each side ... There are 4 different types of clips that you need to fit them along with two lengths of double sided tape that run the length of the inner door sill. Is it R53 or R56 model skirts ?

You'll need 7 of the black clips that have a push in rod through the middle they secure the underside of the side skirt to the chassis. There are two red (now superseded by black) and two yellow large tapered clips and then four of the grey standard clips (per side) at the rear of each skirt there is a screw clip that also attaches the rear of the skirt to the chassis.
If you're removing the standard side skirts I think one or two of them might be re-usable but the clips are a use once only part .. and are different from the S to the JCW skirts.
Part number 51118174185 are the ones for underneath
I think 07131480419 are the red (now black) clips for the side skirt to the sill
07137073915 are the standard arch clips
and I'm unsure of the screws for each end but I know that you can def re-use them from the standard S skirts
.... and mind you'll need some double sided tape to run the length of the door sill.

Is there nowhere I can just go online and put them in a virtual basket and order them that way?

You'll find that a lot of them only come in packs (usually of 10) but you may be lucky and get some of those from eBay. If you order them from MINI you'll get them same or next day without any hassle at all

Most mini dealers will have all those clips on the shelf as they are used at various other bits of the car as well.

Ian, don't forget the excellent short 'Instructional Video' we made when you were fitting mine a few years back... :smilewinkgrin: Not sure where it is now...

If I remember correctly, we were a couple of clips short of the requisite amount, but the skirts haven't fallen off, so they must be OK! :thumbs up:

Ordered through Menzies mini today, collect tomorrow
