Hi folks....im Davy and new to minis!

After recently writing of my E60 M5, i decided i was after something, quick-ish...but something that was substantially lower cost wise to ru and maintain, so after the M5 was assessed (and declared a total loss) at BMW, it seemed to be fate that there was a mini in stock that had almost everything i was after options wise...and more importantly was a FJCW in the correct colour!

a deal was done, and she came home with me a few days later following a full service, alloy wheel refurb (as they were a bit hazed) and a fresh MOT.

Initial thoughts are awesome, while its no match for the M5 on outright power, it has it licked in the handling department any day of the week....its a riot on the twistys!

so, since I've came from something that was pushing 510bhp, it does feel a little slower...ive decided to go for a map plus some other things...

starting with an AEM induction kit, AEM brace and a carbon bonnet scoop...which wont really do much performance wise...but it looks decent!

Before those are fitted, i think i want to have the heat shield, hard pipe and brace powder coated in Chilli red to match the roof etc...but not sure...so any input would be great :)

The CF scoop looks awesome though!

anyway thats enough waffling... :nerd:

...the FJCW R56 is a lovely car, we had one but kept it standard and it was great, but coming from an M5...I can see why you may want to alter a few things...enjoy

Hi Davy, welcome to NMS. Lovely car I also had the AEM brace and CAI a couple of things to watch out for 1. The pipe that goes from the filter box to the turbo melted on mine and I never noticed until I checked it all over again because it's not that noticeable unless you feel around the whole pipe. 2 the vacuum hose going over your brace will wear so it's advisable to keep an eye on that too.

Yeah as had been said there's always plenty going on if you look in the meets and social section you're bound to find something you fancy :)

cheers all....will hopefully get along to a meet soon :)

I had looked into theAEM kit before, and i did see warnings of the heat buildup melting certain components...so will definitely have to keep a close eye on things!

Welcome along Davy from another. I'm sure the MINI will provide you with just as much fun as the M5 did and with a few tweaks you'll not really be bothered about losing a straight line race.
There's usually one thing or another going on so don't be shy and pop along to anything you fancy ..

Welcome. Just got rid of midnight black/red R56 JCW for a pepper white F56. Lovely car. Shedding a wee tear looking at pics!
